Sat, 28 Aug 2010 20:19:41 GMTI didn't see a thread about this:
According to NJ Transit, weekend service on the HBLR's Hoboken-Tonnelle Avenue Branch is being eliminated today. Customers going from Hoboken to points north must take the Bayonne Branch to Pavonia-Newport and transfer to the West Side Avenue-Tonnelle Avenue Branch, and vice-versa for customers going into Hoboken. Would it be possible to buy a ticket to Newark and then stay on the bus until it reaches the Port Authority Bus Terminal? When I went to Six Flags, I handed the bus driver the ticket to Newark and got off in Newark, but it seemed as if I could've stayed on until New York. Just curious.

Whoever this inept person is, is constantly making mistakes, directing people to the wrong trains on the wrong platforms. Last night, at 6:57PM, for instance, the 5:52PM train to Trenton was posted as being 5 minutes late :o ... now arriving on Track 4.
Unfortunately, it was a train to Long Branch.
And unfortunately, even though a conductor came through and noted that my ticket was to Jersey Ave, he didn't even bother to tell me that I was on the wrong train.
Does the person responsible for these train postings get kickbacks from the cab companies, or what?

Sat, 14 Aug 2010 16:53:31 GMTHey guys,

I take the Hudson Bergen Light Rail all the time, but I never took the bus before. Im trying to get to Edgewater, and normally I drive my car, but the parking lot is so packed all the time to the place I go that I figured it would probably be easier taking transit to get there. So my dilemma is, I know to take Lightrail to Port Imperial, then switch to the NJ transit #158, but how does the fare system work? I was reading online about zones and transfers from light rail to bus, but how does it work?
I have to pass through two zones, and I was reading about the transfer from train to bus but it says its only valid for one zone, so how would I get a transfer for a two zone bus ride?
And lastly, how does the bus driver know how many zones you are going through? Does it work on an honor system? Or is there some way they can keep track of the zones you pass through?
Sorry im all new to this 'zoning' idea so I have no idea what exactly to do.
Thank you so much!
