Ferrocarril Central Argentino EMUs

While looking up the history of Metropolitan Vickers, I found videos, which are not mine. The first video was from a movie that was made in 1959. I did some research on these EMUs. In the first video a train of Type "C" cars built in 1931 by the Metropolitan Cammell Carriage and Wagon Company. They used MV (Metropolitan-Vickers) traction motors and equipment. The second video shows the Type Cs in action.

According to what I've been reading, these cars were refurbished during the 1980s and retired in 2002, serving over 70+ years of service. The second train in the first video is a train of Type "A" cars built in 1916 by the same company. While these cars are similar to the Type Cs, unlike the Cs, these and the Type Bs had wooden bodies.

The Type As used BTH (British Thomson-Houston) traction motors and equipment, while the Type Bs used Metropolitan-Vickers just like the Cs. The Type As and Bs were retired in 1972. Some of these cars are preserved, but some are in poor condition and to the best of my knowledge none run under their own power. Hope you guys enjoy these.

P.S. the first video you may need to turn up the volume. If you do you can hear the sound of the Metropolitan Vickers traction motors.

Grand Concourse, Bronx

I have some business to take care of along the Grand Concourse in the Yankee's Stadium area and was wondering is the Grand Concourse safe in the day AND at night since I may be going during various parts of the day? I would like to use the BxM4 express bus to get there from the city, as I think the MetroNorth stop is too far of a walk and too far off of the main path. I am asking because I've been to the new Yankees Stadium and went via car and found some areas to be sketchy but the immediate area by Yankees' Stadium seemed tolerable. However I've never been on the Grand Concourse before. If it's too sketchy then I change things up and go to the city instead or in Riverdale.

Boy attacked by another on city bus, video

NEW YORK (WABC) -- There is disturbing video of a 13-year-old boy being beaten up by a 12-year-old.

It happened on board a city bus, and no one tried to stop it, not even the bus driver on Staten Island.

The victim's mother is outraged.

Just out of the blue, 13-year-old James Adrian was challenged to a fight, and then he was sucker punched.

He took a barrage of blows while a mob of kids cheered on the unprovoked attack.

"I turned my head, I got hit, and he just kept on hitting me, and it was posted on Facebook," said James Adrian, 8th grader.

It happened last Wednesday onboard the S78 that Adrian catches after school outside of IS 2 in Midland Beach, Staten Island.

At the beginning of the video, you can see the 13-year-old trying to negotiate his way out of the fight.

But it all happened so quickly, he never gets a chance to fight back.

Afterwards, feeling outnumbered, the clean cut 8th grader simply sat down.

"I got on the bus. And then he said I want to fight you and I was like, 'Why?'," Adrian said.

Adrian came home with a black eye.

Later that night, his mother found the video online.

'When he went to bed, I went on his account and went down the newsfeed and there it was. It said "respect" they're teaching him respect I guess," said Mary Ann Kelly, the student's mother.

In a written statement the MTA states it's policy is, "Whenever a bus operator observes or is informed of a crime in progress aboard their bus, they are instructed to proceed to the nearest bus stop and open all doors, and then contact the Bus Command Center."

"The driver didn't stop. The kid got off after he did what he did, and my son out of humiliation I guess," Kelly said.

The MTA is now looking into this after being contacted by Eyewitness News.

A little comforting for this single mom who also has a message for the mother of the 12-year-old throwing blows in the video.

"Teach your kids not to beat kids up. There's no reason for it. Be a mother," Kelly said.

The bus driver should be fired

NYPD related-question

Hello~

Several years ago, I applied for several city-wide examinations with the NYPD. Upon receiving the letters from the NYPD, I realized that my heart belongs to Transit and not the NYPD, therefore I disregarded them.

However, I recently received a notice from the NYPD for one of the positions which I am interested in - Police Administrative Aide, even though my heart belongs to Transit.

With that said, I have one main question:

My father, who not only worked for Transit for 39 years (1966 to 2005), but also has a temper tantrum over most things, is highly encouraging me to go ahead with this, since he is saying that Transit will like the fact that I have worked with the NYPD. Is this still true to this date?

I would like to talk to someone (preferably a TA employee) about this via PM, where I can share more details about this. Therefore, if someone can send me a private message I would appreciate it.

Thanks!
