EE Broadway Local Posted August 3, 2010 Share #1 Posted August 3, 2010 Get this: The huge 3D Express Bus will be six meters wide and will be able to DRIVE OVER cars two meters high and less. It will be powered by a combination of electricity and solar energy. Each bus will be able to carry 1,200 to 1,400 passengers at up to 60 kilometers per hour. EE Broadway Local Posted August 3, 2010 Author Share #4 Posted August 3, 2010 The 3D Express Buses do travel on tracks. Late this year the first 115 miles of track will be constructed in Beijing's Mentougou District and if the estimate is accurate, 3D Express Service should start by the beginning of 2012. Grand Concourse Posted August 4, 2010 Share #8 Posted August 4, 2010 Not a good idea with tall trucks around. I certainly don't want to be on that if a truck were to crash into it.

Nova RTS 9147 Posted August 4, 2010 Share #10 Posted August 4, 2010 Wow! China is years and years ahead of us! This monstrosity isn't progress. Yes, I'm positive every bus operator thought it would be cool to just drive over the cars in front of them instead of sitting in traffic, but this......bus creates a huge liability issue for anyone who even dares to operate it (I would personally be scared shit-less if something like this drove over my car). R32 3348 Posted August 4, 2010 Share #11 Posted August 4, 2010 The problem with trucks driving under it is a non-issue. I'm sure if I were a truck driver I would stay the **** away with the bus lanes, if those things were around.
Infamous85 Posted August 4, 2010 Share #12 Posted August 4, 2010 Imagine just seeing a huge noisy shadow overtake your car, I'd probably crash.

rockdove Posted August 4, 2010 Share #15 Posted August 4, 2010 Palm trees in China? Looks like Miami to me. Seriously, that thing does look scary. Maybe it has a way of coming to an automatic stop for something too tall (truck) in front of it.

Eric B Posted August 22, 2010 Share #19 Posted August 22, 2010 So nobody thinks of this as a possible other alternative to SBS as a replacement for the Manhattan els? It's like basically an el with moving columns; i.e. the columns are attached to each car, running on a ground trackway, rather than holding up an elevated trackway. unclephil Posted August 22, 2010 Share #20 Posted August 22, 2010 How does that even qualify as a bus? Looks more like some kind of single car train to me after all it does run on rails right?
Grand Concourse Posted August 22, 2010 Share #21 Posted August 22, 2010 I would hope so or something close to tracks. I can't imagine that being 'easy to steer' if one were to drive it like a conventional bus.
