firstmccmatt Posted June 17, 2010 Share #3 Posted June 17, 2010 I only see the track map with today's service patterns Me too, but the point is the will use the Christie St. connection to get from Broadway/LaFayette to Essex St. The map is an up-close look at that connection, and kinda cool. Grand Concourse Posted June 18, 2010 Share #11 Posted June 18, 2010 What about re-activating the closed platform for the (J)/(Z)? - A There's no point. The western platforms can handle the loads fine. And the eastern platforms are a mess. Let them rot.

MTR Admiralty Posted June 18, 2010 Share #17 Posted June 18, 2010 Canal Street Absolutely no need for it. The (M2) can handle traffic through just two tracks, why need four? Besides, when they used both sides of Canal, only two tracks were used as well. Higher maintenance costs.
Matt91 Posted June 19, 2010 Share #18 Posted June 19, 2010 Isn't that map out of date? I don't mean with regard to the but rather aren't the tracks west of the cut different than what is shown there?

LRG Posted June 22, 2010 Share #20 Posted June 22, 2010 Isn't that map out of date? I don't mean with regard to the but rather aren't the tracks west of the cut different than what is shown there? The current track used for trains northbound connects with the unused track. That's why during Shuttle G.O.'s, through trains to Queens use the unused track while Shuttle trains terminate at the northbound middle track and then switch over to the southbound track on the return trip to Prospect Park. Rutgers Tube Posted June 22, 2010 Share #23 Posted June 22, 2010 vomitating preposterousness Unfortunately, that's not all that far off from some of the stuff sprinkled about these threads. Back on topic. . . . I'm wondering if the Cut would have been constructed to accept 75'6"-cars had it been built five years later after the R44's entered service. Remember that none of the cars in revenue service at the time were in excess of 60'6" and there wasn't a need to build the cut with a larger turn radius. Any thoughts?
