I wonder if Queens Blvd will be fully local during late nights once the (F) is back running all times along 63rd St. If so, then the (D) and (3) would be the only late night express lines.

The (F) already makes local stops during the overnight hours. That change happened a year ago for CBTC work.

@Kamen Rider hey, is LES 2nd Av controlled by West 4th tower now, or does someone have to manually go to the tower at 2nd Av to operate the switches?

West 4th tower doesn’t control anything anymore under normal circumstances. It has been superseded by 34 Master.

2nd avenue, however, is under a different tower, Essex Street Master.

Only for the time being. Once CBTC work on Queens Blvd (East of Union Turnpike) is finished, then maybe the late night (F) Express will return to normal.

Really random question: after the (A) departs Howard Beach JFK on the N/B track. I hear this *cli-cli-cling* noise as the train passes by over a certain portion of track. Doesnt matter what fleet im on, its been making that noise. It's not harmful or anything, but im just wondering what causes that noise.

I hear that sometimes, don’t know exactly what it is.

A random thought. I know that now with the 63 St tunnel reopening for full service, full service will be restored to the (E)(F)(M)(R) but are there enough crews to run this service? Remember that when the (M) was cut to its current service (57 St to Metropolitan Av), the (N)(R) and (C) got service buffs during the midday which was partially offset by (M) service being cut in half. And during the first month or so. There were many crew shortages on the (R) especially, even with the lack of 179 St (E) trips. I wonder if it will be just as bad if not worse now that we need the full crew roster for the QB corridor and to maintain the service buffs that have been given.

Here’s the thing… the Mikey wasn’t “cut in half”. 90% of M crews still have trips.

yes, that has made Metropolitan Ave crew quarters very crowded, but, c’est la vie…

So the boosts on the other lines were not really at the expense of the Mikey, they are temporary jobs mostly filled by new people without fully picked jobs on a line.

The extra crew needs on the R actually surpassed what the M or E could give up.
