Wait...the Tube is a subway system with turnstiles. Why do they need to do fare sweeps on the trains themselves? Just check at the turnstiles for jumpers...

Because the tube has a zone based ticketing system. They catch people who have traveled outside the zones they paid for.

I've actually finished watched the first episode. Very interesting to say the least. Just gained some respect for The Tube.

In our system, the staff are not allowed to touch sleeping passengers at terminals, is that right? As seen in the video, The Tube staff can physically wake up passengers who fell asleep en route. Can't stand that bs "you're not allowed to touch me" attitude over here.

BTW that shot from 40:32 - 40:40 was sick -the sounds of the train hitting the switch, the propulsion (gotta have headphones to really hear), and angle.

I'll definitely watch the second episode.

But don't people have to touch out of the system? They could be charged at the exit.

And are there any more 1-hour episodes? I can only find some 10- to 15-minute ones.

Please mind the gap between the train and the platform.

I'll post more here as soon as I find them. One airs today in the UK.

They do. But you can have a season ticket on the Oyster card or you can buy a travel card. Both of these have fixed zones. They don't always have to touch out of the system. Some stations don't have gates. Those that do evade fares can get out or in by following someone who has paid. Or opening the wide gate.

But that still doesn't justify ticket checks on platforms/trains. For stations without gates (why?), officers doing random checks at the entrance should be enough. Checks immediately inside fare control would catch followers.
