(Let's pretend) Mike Setzer came up to you asked your opinion on wether NICE should go with Orion for the new buses this summer, or... What bus would you pick to come into Nassau County?

I'd probably go with C40LF (if they had enough parts to build them after the (MTA) order) or go with MTS.

If it was up to me, I'd order 75 new NABI CNG 40-LFW 3Gs and give the leased MTA units back instead of retiring the Orion Vs. The NABI CNG 40-LFW 3Gs I can see doing well in Long Island.

I'm all for the Orions, but I'd take a C40LFR if they didn't get Orions.

I would say "Use the buses you have now until Novabus Comes out with their LFS CNG. Then demo it for a month, if its a success, buy about 40 instead or shit-rions.

I would get some articulated buses that NICE could really use on busy routes like the N6, N20, N40/41, or even the N88.

Thank you for riding Long Island Bus. Major Transfer Point.

Bus operators are protected by New York state law. Assaulting a bus operator is a felony.

The problem with waiting is that the 5's need to be replaced and are becoming unreliable.

Not sure what to say on this, but I'd go with the company that they have had excellent business with and stick to it.

True, but wouldn't you think Veolia has a good business relationship with bus builders around the world?

I would Order Orion 3G buses to replace all Rockville Centre Buses. Orion 7 2G would be given back to the MTA. So:
Orion 7 2G is based out of MF
Orion 7 3G is based out of RC

Orion 5 would just be retired.

UPDATE: I'm putting a new gallery featuring pictures of buses I shot. Here's the link:http://transitjeopar...te-gallery-pics .To be fully complete, it might take several months,as I have a lot of photos and I am trying to get them all into the gallery (over 1,000). Be patient, enjoy what I have, and come back each day to see more pictures

As much as I'd love artics (especially DE60s) I know the N4 and 6 have cramped terminals in the city and Hempstead respectively. Also, where would the money for artics come from?

Are the garages and garge doors at MF & RVC big enough to accommodate double deckers?

No, but there are parking lots in the back outside. Double deckers could enter through the back.

And also, everywhere around Long Island, there are low-hanging power cables and overpasses that double deckers wouldn't make. I just don't like the idea and don't see it being right to get DDs.
