So, right now, because of track replacement, trains between Speonk and Montauk are replaced by buses. When things like this happen all the way out in the end of Suffolk County, whose buses are sent out there to replace the service? Suffolk Transit buses, NYCT buses, what?

Thank you for riding Long Island Bus. Major Transfer Point.

For the late night busing between Ronkonkoma and Farmingdale/Hicksville on Saturday 4/14, they used private contractors, North Fork Express being one of them. I've seen videos of other companies doing Port Jeff runs.

To my knowledge SCT NEVER does bustitutions. I guess MTA Bus sometimes does (they do Metro-North busings up in Orange County, so it would be reasonable to assume they do LI)

IIRC, both NYC Bus & MTA Bus covers LIRR shuttles along with North Fork Express and some others.

So do they send MCIs out there?

Speaking of Buses Replacing LIRR trains, seems there was a problem among one of them today:

SOURCE (27East) : http://www.27east.co...Hampton-Village

After a passenger reported that there might be a weapon aboard, a Long Island Rail Road bus was hemmed in by East Hampton Village and Southampton Town police cars as it arrived at Railroad Avenue in East Hampton at about 2 p.m. on Thursday. No weapons were found, East Hampton Village Police Chief Gerard Larsen said after the incident.
The chief said there had been “a little altercation” between a couple and a group of six people on the bus, all eight of them traveling to Montauk. “Words are exchanged,” Chief Larsen said, adding that the couple ended up feeling intimidated and concerned that “a weapon might have been involved.”
The railroad was running shuttle buses instead of trains to its easternmost stops because of construction, and the group of six, who had boarded in Speonk, were asked to leave the bus in East Hampton and wait for another one to take them the rest of the way.
Before the second bus arrived, one member of the group, Iraida Rodriguez, explained that they had just arrived from Puerto Rico and were on their way to Montauk to start jobs. The couple was unhappy about having to wait in Speonk while all of the group’s luggage was loaded, Ms. Rodriguez said. When a cellphone belonging to one of the group rang, the woman told its owner to put on headphones to listen to music. The situation escalated, Ms. Rodriguez said, and the woman’s partner seemed to think they were talking in Spanish about the couple.
Ms. Rodriguez said couple treated them disrespectfully. Ray Lord of East Hampton, a passenger who was not involved in the incident, said after disembarking that the woman in the couple had told the people in the group of six, “You’re not going to talk to me like that.”
“I just put on my headphones,” Mr. Lord said.

I guess they wont be using NICE Buses anymore? Since they are no longer the MTA's, they cant be used to bustitution, right?
