BrooklynIRT Posted April 21, 2012 Share #1 Posted April 21, 2012 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_zARKdiKKI I was so happy when I found this. I had been wanting to see something like this for a long time. I find it interesting that most of the work is done by hand rather than by robots. GojiMet86 Posted April 21, 2012 Share #3 Posted April 21, 2012 I haven't seen it yet. What's the tunnel portal at 2:00? I've never seen it before.

NX Express Posted April 21, 2012 Share #5 Posted April 21, 2012 I didn't see this either. Thanks. I haven't seen it yet. What's the tunnel portal at 2:00? I've never seen it before. I think that's the Pitkin Yard portal, leading to Euclid Av.
Kamen Rider Posted April 21, 2012 Share #6 Posted April 21, 2012 we've talked about this twice, once when it first aired about 2 1/2 years ago, and once a few months ago.

FriedChikkin Posted April 21, 2012 Share #9 Posted April 21, 2012 Oh yeah I saw this video a couple of months ago. I caught it searching on the 1080p Showcase Roku channel, saw I watched it on my HDTV at 1080p. Good stuff.
Vistausss Posted April 21, 2012 Share #10 Posted April 21, 2012 Wtf. I can't even watch this episode in Europe 'cause they blocked it here even though the Ultimate Factories series is aired here.

Kamen Rider Posted April 22, 2012 Share #13 Posted April 22, 2012 we should just peg a thread with just subway TV epsiodes. that way we'll have everything in one place.

True, but there, might be too many of them. And most people might post scenes of the Subways in movies. Another would be the link being dead. Grand Concourse Posted April 22, 2012 Share #15 Posted April 22, 2012 What a subways in movies/tv thread? If it's about the NYC system, and not the fake Hollywood or Toronto stand ins, I would have no problems with that. And to be honest, there's no need to be piling on the op. Maybe not everyone has seen it, so not a big deal.
m7zanr160s Posted April 22, 2012 Share #16 Posted April 22, 2012 Thanks for that. I watched it again. Must've been around my 5th time.
BrooklynIRT Posted April 22, 2012 Author Share #17 Posted April 22, 2012 Mark, since this video was posted by the official National Geographic YouTube page, I think this link will either always be there or if it is not National Geographic will say so. Also if it gets stickied but the link stops working at least people will see that and then know exactly which keywords to google in an attempt to find the video again, and if the person finds the video again, hopefully s/he person tells staff and then staff can edit the post in which the video was embedded to re-embed the newly found video, or simply sticky a new post with the newly found video embedded. Guys, this thing was not as easy to find as it looks. I had been searching for a video on subway car manufacturing on Google and Youtube on and off for quite a few months and never found something as in-depth as this (which was exactly what I wanted). I never searched the forum because it simply did not occur to me. I was also thinking that this should be stickied. It seems that things like this where they actually get into the minutiae of transit vehicle manufacturing do not come around very often. To be honest I have also been searching for an in-depth video about bus manufacturing. They should make an Ultimate Factories episode about LFSs/LFS Artics, based in NovaBus' plant in Plattsburgh. Vistausss Posted April 22, 2012 Share #20 Posted April 22, 2012 While some may have not seen it, some could of also searched the forum. While I do agree that searching the forum is the way to go, I don't agree in this one. If you don't know this video, then you don't have anything to search for. Grand Concourse Posted April 23, 2012 Share #23 Posted April 23, 2012 Ok, I think that point has been made. There's no need to restate what has been said.
mark1447 Posted April 23, 2012 Share #24 Posted April 23, 2012 While I do agree that searching the forum is the way to go, I don't agree in this one. If you don't know this video, then you don't have anything to search for. Well then, thats where search tags come in. Even if you don't know the name. A bit of search would help. I remembered in the vB forum there was a title checker to see if its duplicating other threads. I wish it were Modded here to prevent dupts. But then again, someone might bump a very old thread which is unnecessary. Anyways as for this thread, I think everything should go back on topic as it going way off. Princelex Posted April 23, 2012 Share #25 Posted April 23, 2012 Well it's never a bad thing to repost a great video like this one so I'm cool with it. Thanks for posting this. Makes me want to work on a R160! LOL!
