(courtesy of TSTC.org) Veolia is suppose to be at the meeting to discuss how NICE is doing.

LINK: http://blog.tstc.org...ng-on-nice-bus/

Tomorrow, April 25, Nassau County’s Bus Transit Committee will host a public meeting beginning at 4p.m. At the event, officers will be elected, the committee will “attend to other organizational issues,” and Veolia, which assumed control over the county’s bus system on January 1, will deliver a report.
The meeting is not listed on NICE Bus’ website, and its subject and format are unclear to riders and advocates.
The event will be held at the Theodore Roosevelt Executive and Legislative Building, 1550 Franklin Avenue, Mineola, NY.

If the public was there, you would have pissed off N6 riders letting their disapproval of the N6 Limited Changes. Super Packed Locals, light Expresses. You'd also have N20/21/23/27 riders complaining about the changes themselves and/or the missing of connections.

Yeah, the "meeting" is really between Veolia, Nassau County, and the Transit Comittee. The public doesn't have to be invited afaik.

Well, we're not important anyway. If we were, things would be different.

Not much. The CEO presented all the "positive" information about the NICE. The only negative thing since the cuts is the N6/N6X (Which is somewhat true) Also N6X will start at 169th he confirmed tomorrow. Basically he thinks everything has been great and we of course had a few bumps.

I took 9:50 N20 Roslyn this morning, and run to Station Branch of Great Neck Library and Fed Ex make sign for meeting.

Then took 10:10 N20 Hicksville came to Glen Clove Rd late, forcing N21 riders to miss their connection.

I saw N27 Roslyn Station and I darted against busy traffic like Jackie Chan trying to make it to 11:01 N27 Hempstead, even motorists stop little think they knew I was trying to catch that bus.

I missed that bus and station for snack and waiting for 11:31 N27 Hempstead.
At Roslyn Station, driver pull into parking lot at 11:53, and connecting N23 was at 12:06 departure.
TO PinePower: Four people including woman with cane and elderly lady want the N27 and N23 restores to pre-April 8th cut. They don't like transfering like this.

Did anyone here see or even take the survey? And what possibly could have boosted ridership? What besides the name change could have encouraged more people to take Nassau's bus system?

I hadn't seen any surveys, and I think the claims of boosted ridership are baloney. Since the n23/n27 changes, I see less people on the n27 than I used to, especially choice riders (kids going to the mall, who usually pay with cash). The 5:56pm n27 trip of out Glen Cove used to be pretty busy, now since it ends in Roslyn, it's practically empty. Alot of the workers wind up taking the 5:35pm trip before it since it's a straight trip. As far as what riders think, most I've met don't seem pleased with NICE. If ridership is up, it certainly isnt on the north shore. Perhaps the increases lie on the n22 corridor...

Yeah thats the message I got from Mr.Setzer too when he wrote back to me. After I told him about how I felt about what happened with the missed connection on Saturday, he stopped writing me back, even after I suggested some solutions to the problem. It's alot of SPIN. I think they should just bring back the n6L, or add more stops to the n6x and start/end trips at 165th st bus term. They should definately add a stop at Franklin Ave for the n25 transfers, alot of people board/alight there, which is probably contributing to the n6 local overcrowding.

There is no data to prove this, or for us to see. This is what a few people were saying during the comments.
Also back in 2008(MTA) we had 105,000 passengers as well, which was stated.

Still, Setzer acknowledged that the system has hit some "bumps" along the way, including overcrowding and late buses on its busiest route, the N6, which runs from Hempstead to Jamaica via Hempstead Turnpike. Veolia is working to address the issues, such as adding stops on the N6 express route, he said.

Lol, at which point it becomes the N6 Limited.

It's interesting that they had record ridership with reduced service hours(is that what the metric is called)? Their costs per passenger must be dropping.

Basically, the Public voice is not being heard, I know there is a SPIN to it despite me being quiet about it on emails to Veolia Transdev, still it's ridiculous that Veolia is spewing out these numbers, they are probably discarding several percentages of the dissatisfied choice. I am frankly not satisfied at all on the changes and I dislike going thru Jamaica after 10 in the evening, now I have no choice because of the routes near Glen Cove being shoved around and screwed up with.
