Do the C3s have LEDs on the side of the car like the M7s do?

They have status lights on the sides, just like the M7.

Brakes applied, brakes released, door disabled when flashing, and the door-is-closing-soon-get-moving light. There's also a set of lights next to the conductors station.

I also have a question about the C3s. Before the C3s, there were the C1s. What were those like? Identical? How many were ordered?

Are you talking about the door indicators or the LED destination sign? The C3 have digital signs for the destination on the sides near the ends of the cars but often times they arent on.

Weren't the C1s prototypes of the C3s that were to be ordered? At least, that's what I thought I read about 'em.

The C1s were far from identical to the C3s. They required their own specialized motive power and ran in married pairs, despite being trailers.

For a short while we had FL9s on Loan from Metro-North to run em. Then they had that strange power car thing #3100 to run the lights so they could use their exsisting GP38s to pull it.

Why aren't they on, mostly?
