Since they are up to that # on the list, I am just worried about myself...I am #2**, went for medical on December 31st, 2013. Got put on medical hold, however HR and the doctor told me to get this medical hold taken care of as soon as I can. Unfortunately, I have to go for a nerve test on January 22nd (since the specialist is only there once a week), followed by a follow-up conversation with the results on January 24th which means the earliest I can go back down is January 27th.

Does anyone think I will be disqualified since it took a month to get this taken care of?

Thanks in advance...

Yo sinyguy and stylus.....approx. what time did they call u?

Hey Wannabe! Sorry the last 2 days have been hectic.....I got the call around 1:45PM

Damn.

I'm jus perplexed on why the mta doc would diagnosis such a serious disease on a random 1st time medical examination

You and me both man! Young you are in my thoughts and prayers. God willing everything will be alright. I'm just shocked the doctor assumed you have muscular dystrophy. Leave it up to God. It will happen for you.

Hey could any guys that went through the 7 day training tell me how many people didnt make it. Im just worried we go through all this waiting and paperwork and then half of the training class fail. I know 3 people that failed the training and two that passed. One guy failed because he was texting behind the wheel, and the other two hit a curb.

Texting!!?! Umm...ok....that guy deserves the Academy Award for best supporting dumbass.

Yea i work for school safety, so people from my job leave for the MTA on a somewhat regular basis. Anyway the guy i work with was texting his wife during training and now he is back working with me. He's a fool, but to each his own.

You are being too kind by calling him a fool lol

Young I hope not. Please don't think about DQ. Just get yourself checked out, and make sure you are clear then you should be ok.

You will get through this. Never thought I would myself get a bit emotional about this, but this is our lives here. I pray for all of you guys.

You will get it Young, I know it!

Hey guys! Well I finally went to 180 Livingston for a 2nd drug screening. Everything went well, got out of there around 9:45, told me they will call for the Medical. God willing they do,

Do they check for blood in the medical? Or just the urine test in the drug screening? Just asking since my friend asked.

By the way, I hate the Belt parkway lol, traffic is horrendous on it!

God willing everything goes ok, nervous but happy everything went well.

This list is moving way faster than any other city job. Im waiting on track worker too, and the list aint even established yet. Im #123X so if they are up in the 300's, i figure Feb they'll be up to the 600's for medicals. March=800's. April = 1100. May = 1300's. You guys think im close here or am i way off?

U way off. They still in the 200's for medical. The next class is in feb since tomorrow is the last day to make the jan 13th class. And what makes it bad is they mixing the class up with mta bus, & mabstoa drivers. They prob get to the 1300's by sept. Even tho I wish the list went as fast as u stated.

They check for any health issue that cause a threat behind the wheel. The normal listing to operate a commercial vehicle like blood sugar, blood pressure, vision, hearing aid, etc. If you have some sort of an medical condition issue, if you can prove you can maintain it, than they will put you on a watch testing every six month. Like my pops is a bus operator for mta for 13 years and he has blood sugar issue, he has to go to medical at livingston every 6 months. One time his blood sugar was a little high that they put him out of service till his dr oked him and they did another test after 3 weeks.

Yeah the dude was saying they did a prostate exam....I could understand if your are a certain age...he was probably just messing with him

Yeah he was messing with him, that would be deep, thats more between you and your personal dr. But i know these dr at mta are tough, especially this lady that works over there im not sure if shes still there.

thanks for the info the way medical is going everybody better hit the gym go there with a gym body u know a six pack look ar at all the bus operator u will get it

Not necessary true. 55% of the drivers has some sort of health issue, its nature but what they want to see if the condition you have is under control. looks has nothing to do, so you canbe 6'5 with abs, muscle, and still be knocked out by mta for having a high blood pressure or bad hearing aid.
