The 1 is getting a service boost, but the 2 is getting a service reduction b/w those same hours.... Overall, service from 242nd subway is getting a service boost during said hours.... that's good, because the crowds over there waiting for a bus is ever increasing.... They're trying to shift the riders from bombarding the 2 more, to utilizing the 1 more (giving that more service over the 2)....

Makes sense....

Ideally the next "expansion" of the #1/2 is that should be running as late as the #20 until at least 1am 7 days a week. Of course meaning between the Getty Sq. and 242 St. If funding was there I would run hourly service on last couple of Yonkers-bound trips i.e 12 Midnight and 1am(last bus leaving 242nd).

I agree the mob that waits for the W1/2 at 242nd Street can be ridiculous at times...the good thing is that they actually wait in a single file line to board the bus like civilized human beings while the group waiting for the Bx9 just crowds in front of the door lol.

This is a thread for Ct. Transit, Hudson Valley, Upstate NY/Albany Bus Threads and Proposals. That includes Rockland/TOR, Putnam, Orange, Dutchess(Loop), Ulster(UCAT) and even the Albany area with their CDTA routes.

I am constantly learning about service in NY outside the Metro City Region, and I would like to share my opinion on this matter. So, I will make a proposal for UCAT

E and E1

Combined into one route, route E. This new service will operate continous service between Spring Glen and Rosendale via SUNY Ulster (Please see N proposal for clarification), since all E1 trips operate as E trips past the Ellenville Area. Current E short-turns ( As they would look on the proposed schedule) would be unaffected.

F/S/K Combination.

Combined into one Route, the S. This new service would operate between Woodstick and Kingston via Hudson Vallley Mall. The New S will terminate middays and evenings on weekdays in the Hudson Valley Mall. Customers are advised to use route G for midday and evening trips fro the Huson Valley Mall to Kingston.

G Modification around Ulster Mall Area and increase in Service

Off peak service on weekdays will operate along the Old Corridor of the K around the Ulster Mall Area. Please use the M loop instead. Also, there will be increased service for customers taking the G between Rosendale and New Paltz.

N complete discontinuation

This proposal will discontinue the N completely and extend all E trips from SUNY Ulster to Rosendale, and implement increased service on the G bus route

R and W combination

Combined into one route, the R. This bus would operate from Saugerties to Platekill via New Paltz village.

Current R short-turns (as they would look like on the schedule), would be unaffected. This could be possible because all W trips turn into R trips at New Paltz, and this would make bus service more reliable on both ends.

U and Z combination

Combined into one route, the Z. This bus would operate between SUNY Ulster and Pine Hill. Current schedules would be modified in order to aknowledge the Combination of this route. This is possible since most busses arrive in New Paltz around the same time, (e.g A U bus and a Z BUS arrive In New Paltz at around the same time)

Even though i live in Dutchess I admit i dont know most of the UCAT routes that well so I can't really comment that much on it. Keep in mind other than the Link, none of the UCAT has Sunday/Major Holiday service.

I will say that I know the Link bus which runs between Poughkeepsie and New Paltz/Rosendale. Honestly on the Link Saturday service should run until at least 8pm(last bus leaving Poughkeepsie). While couple of trips that was canned earlier this year on Sundays be restored. Plus may i add majority of ridership are either students/workers at SUNY New Paltz or those going between Ulster County and Metro North at Poughkeepsie station.

Another idea I propose is that the bus(Forgot name of it lol) line that runs between Kingston Plaza/Hannford shopping center and Hudson Valley Mall should run until 10pm weekdays and at least 7pm Saturdays. Only new route IMO that should be created is a rush hour bus between Rhineback and Kingston via Kingston-Rhineback Bridge.

So that all i can comment on for now regarding UCAT. I reply later on the Ducthess County Loop. And honestly I only been on CDTA buses a couple of times as i usually drive to/from Albany.

FYI. Now QJ will be foaming later tonight and create off the wall ideas to have UCAT run say between New Paltz and Catskill, NY(Greene county) or a bus between Kingston and Brewster lol.

the R & W are actually interlined they are already 1 route. No shortline I don't foam that hard 1 there is already a bus to catskill from new paltz its called trailways. 2 if you want to get to kingston just transfer at poughkeepsie. If danbury brewster is extended to poughkeepsie via rte 376. & IBM. Then let S extend to wappingers via rte 9W en rte to poughkeepsie then via southside replacing it to vasser then vasser rd or new hackensack rd to galleria. I do not propose redundant lines

Are you talking about the K route when you talk about that route from Kingston to Hannaford then to Hudson Valley. I would combine that with something, but mostly the S weekends and rush hours. I would make Dutchess Loop routes more frequent rush hours

Yes on the UCAT "K" bus. Back to the Loop proposals. Also keep in mind that 90%-plus of residents in Eastern Ducthess i.e Dover Plains, Wassic, etc. have cars. Thus the reason couple of years when current Loop set-up took hold, service between Poughkeepsie and Eastern Ducthess towns such as Dover Plains and Wassic was reduced to only 2-3x trips a day. So it's doubtful that coordior will get that much service increases.

As far as more service during rush hours keep in mind, that the City of Poughkeepsie (which has it's own bus line)has a couple of it's routes that parrell the Rt.9 coordior lines "A" "B" and "C". The Northside travels part of the route with Route C to the Hyde Park Stop and Shop center. While the Galleria and Southside travel along with Routes A and B as well. Problem is the City of Poughkeepsie bus system ends at around 6pm weekdays and 3pm Saturdays. So that is the reason rush hour service is not more frequent on the Loop "A" and "B."

If anything the Loop should have Sunday service running at least between 11am-6pm on the "A" and "B" to serve between Beacon/Poughkeepsie and the Town of Poughkeepsie Galleria/Fishkill Wal-Mart and mall areas.

no offense but those city buses need to get cut they are in the way of making LOOP bearable. eastern dutchess should have at least bihourly service. However LOOP proposed a line down Rte 22 duplicating harlem line I find it useless. dover plains doesnt need buses in general too deserted even metro north use is light a bus wont do much better

Since there are upstate NY/Albany, Five Boroughs, NICE, Bee-Line, maybe we should also have thread for

Transportation service in Connecticut.

CT Transit- all division, Greater Bridgeport Transit Authority, Norwalk Wheels, 9 Towns, Mildford Transit, Housatonic Area Rapid Transit.

During Dutchess County Fair:

Dutchess County

Coordinate Loop (C) bus with Metro-North schedule at Poughkeepsie.

For Dutchess County, have extra Loop (C) service between Poughkeepsie Station and Dutchess County Fairground in Rhinebeck.

Transport of Rockland

Tappan Zee Express:

Have Sunday Service by operating Saturday Schedule.

Yuki while i agree that the Tappan Zee should run 363 days a year(no service on Thanksgiving and Christmas)including Sundays, it does not need to run until 11pm-Midnight Sundays. Even if ran until around 8pm when the mall closes(palsides)that should be enough. Thus TOR should run between appx. 8am-8pm Sundays.

I think we should give the TZX a route number

1x it did. Prior to 1989, the TOR on selected trips weekdays was extended to White Plains. Then in 1989, the #59 was shortned to run only between Suffern and Nyack and a new #57 route ran between Spring Valley and White Plains. When Palasides Mall opened it was renamed to the current TZX.

Well you KNOW I have something to say about this.

1. Extend the hours of the 905 on Sundays to the hours the 55 ran. I know there is no way in hell the 55 which carried 2 million people a year, stopped running at 4PM on Sundays.

2. Add weekend 116 service so that Mt Hope Dr customers don't have to go through Glenmont.

3. A new 41 that goes to Clinton/Livingston
