Yeah I know but this is the MTA they fix one problem and u soon get another problem. There is no perfect running bus system in the world. Every company has its flaws and weaknesses. But I think we know Queens and Brooklyn and Staten Island always get treated lower than manhattan and Bronx

Been there, done that, I've had to wait an hour for the B49 on multiple occslassions, weekday evening rush, Just not at that end of the line, but I have noticed while I was waiting for the B36 at Ave Z and East 19th a few times of late, hearing that people have waited 45-60 mins for a B49 and haven't been able to get on them since they were overloaded like mentioned in the article. Also I have noticed all day, everyday sometimes there is a gap of 30-45 or even 50 mins without a B1 along 86th street , and they are suppose to run every 10mins all the time going up to Bay ridge, only to see 3 or 4 in a row, 2 to 3 stuffed to the doors so yea, it's just inexcusable to wait that long for the B49 or the B1. There's my rant for now.

How does this happen? Do some trips just go MIA?

How does this happen? Do some trips just go MIA?

Basically, he's saying that on days with beach crowds, there's not enough time in the schedule, so B/Os keep falling further and further behind, and the result is that they have to cut some trips short or cancel some runs or something. Of course, if you have missing drivers, then the problem just gets worse.

Like I said on the article, it's a shame that during the summer, you have some routes (like some of the ones out here in SI) where students make up a large portion of the ridership, and they have too much running time, while meanwhile B/Os on other routes can't even make all of their scheduled trips during some times in the summer. They should really have a couple of different schedules (a summer schedule, a holiday schedule, a beach schedule on routes like the B1/49, etc)

I mean, whenever I see the S96 in the morning during the schoolyear, there's always fighting to get on and everything. Today, I saw one and it had a couple of standees, but it was far from crushloaded. And then there was one behind it with 1 person. I mean, during the school year, you're lucky if they run that extra bus, and yet they do it in the summer??

To help me restore the S67, sign here. The route would be restructured to benefit more people, and you could be one of them. Let's make this sign a reality. Posted Image

Don't worry, BusTime not being able to see around terminals should be fixed eventually. They're looking into how to figure out blocks.

As for minutes vs miles, any conversion to minutes is highly inaccurate, just look at how long it takes to go 10 blocks in Downtown Brooklyn vs. Arthur Kill Rd S of Richmond Ave (unless they take the data from the bus's leader, which still might be inaccurate)

The biggest problem with the 49 is that we dont get enought running time coming from manhattan beach on the weekends. If you get hit with the beach crowd that messes up the whole trip both ways. Until mta adds more running time it will continue to be like that.

You've mentioned that before, but seriously, no bus for an hour??? Come on now! I told you a few Saturdays ago I waited over 30 minutes for a bus and there was supposed to be 3 buses in that time period. There is something fishy going on. I used to use the B49 years ago regularly when I lived back in Midwood and Sheepshead Bay and it was never like that. It isn't like the beach crowds just suddenly appeared. They've always been there.

What, do you think there's a conspiracy to mess up B49 service?

As far as I know, it's been like this my whole life, so that's at least 13 years since it ran well. The beach crowds never materialized out of nowhere, but Manhattan Beach has gotten more popular over the years...

I've been on lines that literally have been screwed over purposely to eliminate them and yes the (MTA) does have an agenda. The B4 for example... The (MTA) was never wild about having it run to Sheepshead Bay and anytime a driver was needed they would simply pull a driver off of the B4 and of course B4 riders suffered as a result. Now look at the B4. It is not an accident that it terminates where it currently does. Another route is the B64... It is clear with the current truncation of the route that the (MTA)'s goal is to kill the route, so if you don't believe that they don't have an agenda, you're sadly mistaken. Same thing happened with the X16. You would have no bus for an hour when two buses were scheduled. Drivers didn't know where the stops were so you would see buses starting where they shouldn't have and then when it came time to cut the route, the (MTA) claimed the route lacked sustainable ridership after they sat there and provided crummy service for YEARS.
