In an effort to reduce speeding, Mayor Bloomberg & the DOT commisoner are reducing the speed limit from 30 to 20 mph in the following neighborhoods:

The Bronx:
Mount Eden
Baychester
Eastchester
Riverdale

Brooklyn:
Boerum Hill

Manhattan:
Inwood

Queens:
Corona
Elmhurst
Jackson Heights/East Elmhurst
Auburndale

Staten Island:
New Brighton/St.George
Dongan Hills
Rosebank

This article was in the AmNY newspaper; I'm not going to transcribe it, and I couldn't find a link on their site, so this is what you get. If you want more info, just ask.

EDIT: Not too sure why this thread got moved, I never check this forum anyway....

It belongs here threxx because this involves roadways. This is what this section is for. No need to be Jr. Mod.

I'm not being a Jr. Mod, I just didn't agree with the move! Please stop calling me that!

Reducing the speed limit only leads to more speeding.

Adding an excessive amount of stop signs also leads to more speeding as people will drive faster to get to the next stop sign, it also releases all sorts of crap into the air from all the brake dust from people having to stop so often. Don't move to a house on a main roadway if you dont like traffic.

Worst form of traffic calming has to be the elongated speed bumps the city puts in. Car damage.

Stop signs also increase fuel consumption.

Bloomturd and the DOT (Dimwitted Obnoxious Turds) have proven to be absolutely useless to the roads of NYC. No one obeys the speed limits, anyway - the only thing that helps are properly timed GREEN lights and stops signs spread relatively far apart.

 at the use of the word "turd" to describe Bloomberg and the DOT. The DOT is just a bunch of organized idiots trying to direct traffic. They claim that the use of blue signs will force people to slow down, but who obeys the signs now...

The only thing the DOT big shots care about are bicycle lanes and tourist traps, oops, I mean "pedestrian plazas". We seem like a city from the 1880's, not 2012
