Like young sad you may have to since the thirty day expiration. Either way for the medical you have to give a urine sample they check right there but it’s for amino acids, sugar levels and stuff. i’d advise anyway not to drink the 4 days before your drug test and medical. This job you have to be clean anyway might as well start being clean now.

I just received a canvass letter to report to the Employment Center on Monday at 730am. So is this the medical urine test (amino acids, sugar levels etc) or a drug urine test ???  Because of the short notice its kinda important. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. FYI this is the first letter ive received if that helps

If it's the first letter you have received, it's for a drug test. They would contact you for the physical by e-mail and/or a phone call, or a voicemail message if you're unable to answer the call for whatever reason.

Good info!!! Thanks for the update!!!

So is it safe to assume someone like me that would be just doing my pre employment paperwork/drug test on next week has zero shot of getting into 4/2 class?

Probably because they have to wait at least three [3] days for the results of the drug test to come back, and they also need time to pre-print the MetroCard passes and submit the names of the candidates to the Track Department.

Sorry...

One more question.  So when I'm taken off the list...then recertify myself...do I get removed again if I miss another hiring class?

Only if you fail to completely respond to the letter in the mail, then you'll get removed again. Even if you get the letter in the mail and you can't make it, you can always call them (347-643-8229/30/31/32), explain your situation and they'll tell you to come down ASAP, providing it's within a reasonable time frame.

To clarify I have never been removed from the list. I was incorrectly told I was removed.  But now with the class hiring people with numbers above me I will be removed, right? Regardless of whether I show up to pre employment or not on Monday?

As long as you respond to the letter and show up to Livingston Street on Monday, you will not be removed. Trust me, you'll be fine.

6am-10pm? Never heard of that. Specially while on ojt.

I did it Tuesday. I did 6am - 9pm, with all the snow duty and OT it worked out to getting paid the equivalent 23 regular hours. Also got 2 hours of direct reporting money the next day (Wednesday). That nonsense snowstorm lined my pockets nicely.

They were probably asked to come in 2 hours early and stay later to be on standby for snow duty.  I was ordered to go to a station in the Bronx at 7pm and didn't leave until 8am the next day, my regular tour is 10pm-6am.   However many hours you shovel snow on your regular tour,  you get an OT-like bonus for it.  Ex:  If you shovel snow for 2 hours, instead of being paid for just 8 regular hours plus the OT hours, you get paid for 9 hours plus OT hours.

2 top pay for a regular track worker is 33 and change i believe, specialist pay is 36.50 i believe. pay seems to increas about 80 cents per year in each contract so by the time I reach full pay, top pay for a regular track worker will be like 37.and change is my guess

3. night diff is like a 1.11 more per hour starting out I think. don't quote me on that I don't remember the exact rate.

4. for school and ojt (the first 6 weeks) no. for your mini pick (where your spot will be until the next general pick) you have a choice between days and nights and different location. for our class there were 50 jobs to pick from and the class picks jobs in seniority list order

(2):  Year 2 pay is $24.83, year 3 is $26.28, year 4 is $28.14, year 5 is $29.79, and top pay is currently $33.1025.   During my orientation back in September, they gave us a sheet that had a breakdown of the pay scale by year.  I calculated the contracted 2.5% pay bump we got in Feb into it and got those numbers.  It may go up with the next contract 1 or 2 years from now.

(3):  Night/Weekend differential currently starts at $1.0034, and with top pay it's about $1.43 .  Night/wknd differential is paid anytime you work between the hours of 6pm & 6am M-F, and all day Sunday & Saturday.  Assuming you work nights, that differential pay can up to $2k to $3k annually.

Can you tell me what is the highest seniority number from your class is? I'm just curious.
