Burrstone Posted October 14, 2012 Share #15 Posted October 14, 2012 The supervisors Quality Service Managers (I keep forgetting) should be driving buses to their post so in the event of a breakdown the supervisor can meet the driver with the bus and keep the system moving! The supervisor usually meets the bus that breaks down anyway so why not not have the supervisor meet the bus that has broken down with a bus so the driver and passengers can go on their way and keep the system moving. Do supervisors report to one place and stay there all shift? I've thought for a long time (since the LIB days) that they should reduce the amount of these supervisor SUV's and go school bus style. School bus companies have their "lead drivers" (driver who works for the company but is the supervisor of the drivers in that district) driving school buses. Unless things changed from the LIB days, this is what I remember from the scanner: -The county is divided into 4 sections. -A dispatcher is assigned to one or more sections (2-4 dispatchers depending on time) -This dispatcher is roaming, he/she is called by central dispatch to incident scenes. -A supervisor is stationed at major locations to keep track of bus arrivals/departures, and can express/deadhead buses to clear delays. Locations (may be more): Hicksville, Great Neck, Jamaica, Roosevelt Field, Hempstead, Freeport, Mineola, RVC (some of these are rush hours/weekdays only, only Hempstead on Sundays if I remember) -These supervisors usually don't leave their posts. On some sites that don't allow this, you'll get a "Forbidden" error.
