BreeddekalbL Posted May 17, 2013 Share #1 Posted May 17, 2013 (edited) I have a question about the physical directed to anyone who went through the process. would you be allowed to use your physical information from your personal doctor including the ekg and anything else? or would the ta force you to use their doctors and their doctors could flag you for something your doctor doesn't or didn't flag you for but they did? RTS4Life Posted May 20, 2013 Share #2 Posted May 20, 2013 You gave to do everything over at TA. if you have a problem like high blood pressure then you will need your doctor to clear you and get a letter stating your under your doctor's care. Opps sorry. You will do everything all over at 180 livingston street.

youngblaze Posted May 23, 2013 Share #4 Posted May 23, 2013 Hey, If you are placed on a medical hold during final processing they will give you a chance to obtain clearance from your PCP. As far as the "certificate" it's all or nothing, it's either your cleared or not pretty much.
ILLMATIC96SS Posted August 23, 2013 Share #5 Posted August 23, 2013 so if you fail the vision test do you need to get clearance from your personal doctor or do you need to take the vision test over at 180 livingston ?
Wallflower Posted August 23, 2013 Share #6 Posted August 23, 2013 so if you fail the vision test do you need to get clearance from your personal doctor or do you need to take the vision test over at 180 livingston ? Why would you fail the vision test? Is there a certain vision you need without corrective lenses? I can't see the top line of an eye chart without my corrective lenses, so I might as well not even take the test unless I get laser surgery.
RTOMan Posted August 23, 2013 Share #7 Posted August 23, 2013 Im guessing they see if you are color Blind more than anything.

You will be given a paper with the exact reasoning for the Medical Hold. so if you fail the vision test do you need to get clearance from your personal doctor or do you need to take the vision test over at 180 livingston ? Don't know.
INDman Posted August 25, 2013 Share #10 Posted August 25, 2013 If you think there is something they might give you trouble over, go to your personal doctor NOW and get it taken care of. before I was hired at PATH, I went to get my eyes checked and it was a good thing I did. I failed the vision test without glasses, but passed with them. Had i not had glasses, I would have been passed over.
Wallflower Posted August 30, 2013 Share #11 Posted August 30, 2013 For medical / background testing, does MTA make you disclose your medical records like NYPD? At any point in the hiring process, does MTA ask about past mental illness (depression, anxiety)? Thanks.
isaelperez81 Posted August 30, 2013 Share #12 Posted August 30, 2013 I have similar question in regards to the exam. I have a slightly elevated high blood pressure. I take baby asprin as my doctor recommend. Would this disqualify me ? What is the cut off range for the blood pressure? Thanks Izzy
Olegkha Posted August 30, 2013 Share #13 Posted August 30, 2013 BP under 141 over 91 will fly under the radar. Over that an you will have to show that your doctor is taking steps to lower it. How bad is your BP ? Dont lie to MTA, they will find out and you will be fired.
Rodney Posted September 3, 2013 Share #14 Posted September 3, 2013 WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY LIE ABOUT YOUR BP ??? THEY TEST YOU RIGHT THERE SO IT WILL SHOW IF ITS HIGH OR NOT -RIGHT ???
isaelperez81 Posted September 3, 2013 Share #15 Posted September 3, 2013 My dot exam I took my readings was 137/94 or something like that. Just wondering. Do they hire if your levels are greater than 140?
Olegkha Posted September 3, 2013 Share #16 Posted September 3, 2013 Well you can lie on BP test They will test you but if you are taking medications from BP and not tell them you maybe in trouble in the future. They will still hire you, but you will be going to medical every 6 month, and listen to the lecture from the doctor who will tell you to take care of the BP. As long as your BP is in check you should not have a problem
SpikeMauler Posted September 5, 2013 Share #17 Posted September 5, 2013 so if you fail the vision test do you need to get clearance from your personal doctor or do you need to take the vision test over at 180 livingston ? I took the physical 20 years ago and failed the vision test. They're mainly checking for depth perception problems. Told me right eye was 20/100 and left eye was 20/60. At the end of the physical the Doctor sits down with you and goes over the results. He told me that I failed the vision test and that I was put on medical hold. He said I had to comeback and pass their eye test and that a note from an outside eye doctor wouldn't work. The T.A. Doctor was a real a**hole. I went to my Eye Doc the next day. He checked my eyes and said the right eye was 20/30 and left eye was 20/20. He gave me a prescription for glasses to bring right eye down to 20/20. He told me he had other patients who failed the T.A. Eye test with perfect vision. He said they don't know what their doing down there and that if I fail the second time I should sue them. I passed the second time and was taken off medical hold. Just know that the people who work down there are incompetent. Doctors included. What good Doctor would choose to work for the T.A.? Maybe things are different now. I doubt it...

Rodney Posted January 6, 2014 Share #22 Posted January 6, 2014 will you be put on medical hold if you have protein in your urine ???
Xentor Posted January 8, 2014 Share #23 Posted January 8, 2014 will you be put on medical hold if you have protein in your urine ??? As far as I been able to find out, high protein levels in Urine can be the cause of various symptoms. Mainly some sort of kidney problem and even muscle disorders. If your Transit doctors determine this to be a problem then yes you will be put on medical hold. Unless they tell you this right there and then, you're good to go. Good luck.
