BUS OPERATOR #4600

List Status Update: 1/16/22 The list for this specific exam has been extended to January 6th, 2024.

Training: See the DOB New Hire FAQ topic for more information.

Next Scheduled Class: You will be scheduled with candidates of more recent Bus Operator exams (which are pinned), so check those threads for more information.

For those of you who wish to restore your name to the list, you must do so by sending an e-mail to certificationunit@dcas.nyc.gov. In your e-mail, state your full name, exam number, list number, the last four of your social security number, and a brief reason why you're restoring your name to the list. You don't have to go into full detail in the e-mail.

For those who will be reporting to Livingston Street in the future, click here for the pre-employment packet and click here or for extra pages of the CPD-B booklet (if you need them) for final processing.

Next, for those of you who are still waiting, you folks might want to check out this and this YouTube video. In addition, if you need help getting your Class B CLP (Commercial Learner's Permit), I would encourage you to check out cristcdl.com which is free!! Remember, the multiple-choice tests you need to take and pass, at minimum, are General Knowledge, Air Brakes and Passenger Endorsement.

Hi i took the pre employment test for the nj transit ptbo and I don't kno if I did so well and I did the whole test but I didn't finish the reading part my time was up should I be worried and nervous that I would not be call for a interview

Has anyone heard on a freeze on this list? (4600) Someone said they heard that, though I don't know where they could have got such information...

 

There is no freeze. Let me remind you and everyone else of the situation:

 

In January of 2012 B/O Exam 2613 was given. Out of the 36,000 people that passed, only 10% passed. As a result, B/O Exam 4600 was given in December of 2012, since not everyone passes training, not everyone comes clean with the drug test, not everyone successfully passes medical, etc. In addition, keep in mind that Bus Operators can also move on to Train Operators, Superintendents, etc.

 

As far as Exam 2613 is concerned, they are still calling people. Last time I looked at the 2613 thread, they are up to the 700's. When that list is finished, then they will start calling from this list. If the HR Dept. of NYC Transit processes close to 200 people a month for this position, then don't expect to get called for at least another year.

 

In addition, just as a friendly reminder, we also have to take a BOSS (Bus Operator Selective Survey) examination before the final list can be produced...

You're welcome. In addition, if there was a freeze, like in 2009 (if my memory recalls correctly), not only would this affect other city agencies, but it would also be on the news as well.

Hi, I'm new to this. I took the BOSS survey for MBSTOA in November and the NYC Transit Bus driver test in December. I still haven't heard anything regarding MaBSTOA. Any idea when I can expect to recieve my BOSS results?

 

Well, from exam 3101, if you didn't receive anything in the mail, that's good - which means you passed the exam. As far as exam 4600 is concerned, my educated guess is that we will take the BOSS exam for that sometime this year - either in June (before summer vacation) or in September.

JUST A SHOUT OUT QUESTION FOR ALL IF I MAY:  I APPLIED FOR BOTH 3101 AND 4600 WHICH IS FOR BOTH UNIONS,SO WHAT I AM ASKING IS IF ANYONE KNOWS ABOUT THE MEDICAL INSURANCE AND APPROX HOW MUCH IS TAKEN OUT FOR A FAMILY PLAN? AND HOW MUCH DO WE CONTRIBUTE FOR OUR PENSIONS? AGAIN IF ANYBODY KNOWS FOR EITHER UNION ON THESE QUESTIONS??  TKS

You do contribute to your pension and it varies depending how much you make. Look up on nycers tier 6 info. It should have the percentages listed

I'm not from this test but I can confirm there is no hiring freeze. I just got hired today. I'm from the 3101 test mabstoa. I also took to 2613 test. Best of luck to all

congratulations! I've taaken both the 3101 and 4600. May I ask what you listed around? I listed less than 1500 for the 3101. Any rought guess as to when to expect to be called anyone? Also what does a perfect score on the 4600 expect to list around? First 500? 1000?

Thanks @BeRight. I listed in the 290s for 3101 and idk what number they are up to. You'll probably be called from 3101 before 4600 cuz they're still calling people for the other TA test 2613. Best of luck to you.
