MTA Bus Posted April 24, 2014 Share #2 Posted April 24, 2014 The way that she says Aqueduct is so funny. Good job.
Q43LTD Posted April 24, 2014 Share #3 Posted April 24, 2014 At the Broad Channel annoucement, she doesn't say transfer is available to the shuttle to Rockaway Park
Lance Posted April 24, 2014 Share #4 Posted April 24, 2014 Some of the transfers weren't included because of the way Mr Railfan got the recordings. As with Brighton Zach's recordings of the B via West End and D via Brighton, these were captured on an idling train with a crew member knocking off stops on the on-board computer. Transfer announcements aren't triggered unless the train actually moves the required distance. A couple of observations: 1) It is wierd how she says Aqueduct. It's like she had to be somewhere else in quite a hurry. 2) I see that some time between 2006 and today, the original destination announcement for Far Rockaway-bound trains has been cut up. It used to be "this is a Far Rockaway-Mott Av-bound A express train".
2 Train Master Posted April 25, 2014 Share #5 Posted April 25, 2014 The older and announcements are much better IMO. "This is a Coney Island bound,Stillwell Av bound local train" "This is a Far Rockaway-Mott Avenue bound"...
Mr Railfan Posted April 25, 2014 Author Share #6 Posted April 25, 2014 Some of the transfers weren't included because of the way Mr Railfan got the recordings. I think they updated the announcements sometime after 2006 like you said, where they shortened a bunch of announcements. The Original announcements used to denoted express/local and the original Station announcement used to say "Aqueduct - North Conduit Avenue" and "Far Rockaway - Mott Avenue" but also got shortened which is why it sounds so weird. I think the rerouted Train and Train still say the original announcements, because the and to Lefferts still says "Ozone Park - Lefferts Blvd" instead of just "Lefferts Blvd" like the Train. I have a few more announcement videos im releasing soon, so stay tuned.
Around the Horn Posted April 25, 2014 Share #7 Posted April 25, 2014 Thank you Mr Railfan for this... My favorites are the 34 Street and "Fulton Street".I really do think that Jessica's sounds better than the other announcements, very clear.
WillWeaverRVA Posted April 29, 2014 Share #8 Posted April 29, 2014 Great stuff, although the way some of the announcements on the Rockaway Line got cut short makes them sound very weird ("This is Aqueduct---").
