ttcsubwayfan Posted September 2, 2014 Share #1 Posted September 2, 2014 (Please note, as of the time of writing I am still in the middle of sorting these photos on Flickr. They are not yet in any galleries.) Every year, the Toronto Transportation Society hosts a "Transportation Weekend" in late August that involves 2 weekend charters. 2014 was no exception, and I attended their Orion V 7000 series charter on Saturday. The 7000 series of Orion V has been heavily used since 1996 and their demise is nigh. The bus was charted for a 5 hour fantrip around the southeastern portion of the city, beginning at 10 AM. Toronto Transit Commission 7039 - 02 by t6a5iii, on Flickr Our charter bus, 7039, is seen approaching the loading point outside Don Mills station. I'm very glad they sent us a V with a working destination sign. I was really shocked to find that the 224's programming was still in the sign - that route was cut something like 10 years ago - someone else can correct me on the specific date. Some people had already returned and were requesting various destination sign displays for their photoshoots. The driver was very accomodating, hats off to him for that. I found this to be my favorite part of the charter... honestly it would have been worth the money if the bus was just put on display for 5 hours and various displays were put up on the destination sign, never mind driving around the city I think the only display I found stranger than the one pictured in "7039 - 67" was the "199A" to York University via Finch Station. The existing 199 terminates at Finch station. I'm not sure why that is even an option. Orion V 9441 Posted September 2, 2014 Share #4 Posted September 2, 2014 Route 224 still exists: you are probably thinking of route 268.
