Buses must leave Port Authority if no space available

A new thing for NJ Transit and the private carriers at the Port Authority Bus Terminal... If you circle around twice in the North Wing in the afternoon, you will be sent outside. Bus operators not in compliance will get a ticket from Port Authority Police

Alot...Another example of how they come up with BS to make people dig into their pockets... -_-

Well raising the fare is what it is.  PATH recently got brand new cars, so somebody has to pay for those. As for being fined for eating, I agree with it.  People should eat at home.  The PATH train is not a restaurant and slobs leaving their crap everywhere just means that they have to hire more cleaners to clean up behind them. As for the new rule they need to come up with something that's more practical.  It's evident that they don't want back ups and maybe this will help to keep guys moving in and out of the terminal.

All I have to say about the people making these policies:

HAIL HYDRA!!!

I wish the (MTA) had a ban on eating and drinking on the subway.  I took the (A) train this morning and I stunk something fierce.... Someone was eating some smelly breakfast crappola.  i think some people do it just to be seen, as if they're so important and their time is so precious that they can't eat at home like the rest of us do and plan out their commute<_<

As for the fines, don't you guys just pass them on to the company or do you personally have to pay them?

So this means there's a PAPD officer whose job is to just sit and count how many times each bus circles around? That's a great use of resources...

Well I do agree that the buses need to get in and out of the terminal.  Too many backups and too many late buses.  You also can't purchase tickets on the bus anymore out of Port Authority from NJ Transit buses, which is a good idea.  Buy them in advance this way the lines move faster.  Unfortunately the only way that people "get it" is if they have to pay out of their pocket.  Sad but true.

VG8, unless the machines break down (which happens from time to time) a ticket is required, no ticket, go and get one. As for us paying tickets, fines come out of our own pocket

4 years isn't that recent anymore. And that was already paid for.

Though the increase is not for the cars, it's for the modernization of several stations, replacement of the Harrison Station and the Newark Liberty Airport extension.

You get the point... They've got to modernize and somebody has to pay for those upgrades.... Stations, subways cars, etc., etc., etc. That was the point.

Yeah exactly.... I prefer buying them from the machines, this way you avoid the panhandlers constantly begging for money downstairs at the ticket booths.  I guess if they waited by the ticket machines upstairs, it would be obvious why they were waiting there. lol

They come up with this brilliant plan every 6 months to a year and it never works. The last time they sent so many buses onto 40th street that the ramp line backed up into the building and the PAPD made people go back through the tunnel to Jersey. And if I get sent to Jersey this time I'm deadheading home.

There is no way to accuratly gauge how long it takes from the street level to the upper levels because traffic is different everyday! All that is gonna happen now is that there will be more missed/late trips, more pissed off drivers and even more pissed off passengers.

I'm waiting for one of the to get head on by a bus because we all know it's coming! And they a useless there because cars end up in the Port all the time!

The cars started getting stationed there a few years ago IIRC after one of the news channels ran a report on how easy it is for a car to get in there. They should just build a booth for them like they have on the street levels.

Well when you make reactionary decisions based on the media, and not using a lot of brain power, the end result is what you see here

I did it the last time they pulled this crap. Was supposed to be the 525p Monroe Local...fought to get upstairs, saw my gate open but couldn't get to it. Cop sent me out and then they sent me into the tunnel. Dead headed right to the Goshen lot and parked the bus. I'm not fighting my way back in for that bullshit....no!

Deadhead? About how long would that trip take?

A 1 hour deadhead back home, or a 1 hour holding pattern across state lines then a 1 hour plus run....

Yeah, I'd go back home with an empty bus too. I'd even take the pay cut too if the company refuses to pay me my alloted hours and do a Saturday run somewhere else to make up some money.

Someone should take this shtick to the media, they'd have a field day with this...

The same amount of time it takes to fight to get upstairs, then sent back to jersey, then to fight just to get back upstairs AGAIN, then fight AGAIN to actually get back to jersey again!

How dare they issue tickets.

Ive deadheaded from the port to egg harbor in 1hr 40mins.
