MysteriousBtrain Posted September 21, 2014 Share #1 Posted September 21, 2014 The next line to use Fasttrack is the 4th Avenue line. Unlike the previous changes, the will not split into 2 routes and the will run to 36th Street instead of 9th Avenue, with nonstop service between 36th Street and Atlantic Avenue. Is the area south of 59th Street the only part of the line needing Fasttrack at this time or did the MTA just realize they could use this plan for 4th Avenue instead of their previous one? RollOver Posted September 21, 2014 Share #2 Posted September 21, 2014 Why don't they just end the entire route early? The run local on the 4th Avenue Line after 9:30 or 10 p.m. anyway. Have the make local stops early between Canal and Atlantic via tunnel as well. Plus, the still runs its entire route until after midnight, so the QB local stations still have service. Edit: Another thing I could point out is that by/after 10 p.m., there are always work trains that come out of the 38 St yard anyway, forcing the to run local and have the 4th Avenue express tracks all cleared for those work trains mention. MysteriousBtrain Posted September 21, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted September 21, 2014 Yeah it doesn't make sense the would run at this time, but I'm guessing because of the 60 Street connection that is used on the . Even so, riders could use the and connect to the at 34 Street for the stations riders would need. Also, it wouldn't hurt for you to use Lexington Avenue-53 Street if you need the lines or get off at 34 Street and take the one stop north for the connections and transfers at Times Square. And with the work trains from the 38 Street yard, it makes less sense that the runs express south of Atlantic Avenue, but maybe the work trains would instead run when the stops running at 11:45. pjbr40 Posted September 22, 2014 Share #4 Posted September 22, 2014 this all probably a mistake. there two different situations here. If you click on the fasttrak schedule you will see no train between 36 street and 95 street. . if you click on the r on the on homepage itself, you will see whole new ballgame. the r will act like the old m train from the late 1980. just wait till the time is near like friday and they will update it correctly. sometime there are people out there who don't know what they are doing on the internet. MysteriousBtrain Posted September 22, 2014 Author Share #5 Posted September 22, 2014 The MTA just updated their site and it looks like they are going to use the new plan for the 4th Avenue line. The and will run their local routes during the Fasttrack (which really isn't a big difference in service), but it seems like the will use the Manhattan Bridge until the stops running. RtrainBlues Posted September 23, 2014 Share #6 Posted September 23, 2014 The service advisory listed for Tues 9/30/14 is quite clear: trains make all stops between 36 St and 59 St. Free shuttle buses make all stops between 59 St and 95 St.
ConcourseExp Posted September 23, 2014 Share #7 Posted September 23, 2014 The N Train might just have the shuttle from Coney Island again.
Lance Posted September 23, 2014 Share #8 Posted September 23, 2014 No. It's as Rtrain posted: the and will run local along 4th Avenue to allow the (running express) to terminate at 36 St. It appears that this FASTRACK will only be focused on the section south of 59 St.

RtrainBlues Posted September 26, 2014 Share #10 Posted September 26, 2014 This is actually a service increase for riders between 12am and 5am, as R shuttle buses at 59th St will presumably wait for connecting N passengers before leaving 59th St (unlike the single-track R shuttle, which often leaves 1 minute before the N train pulls into 59th.)
