Well, this sucks

Finding a long-term solution to congestion and delays at the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan is going to be more complicated, now that that the agency's bid for a $230 million federal grant has been rejected, the Port Authority chairman said on Wednesday.

But Chairman John Degnan said the agency is still committed to either replacing or upgrading the aging and cramped facility, which has been the subject of recent criticism from transit advocates, New Jersey politicians, and commuters.

There were almost 800 proposals...I guess none of you guys have ever applied for grants. It is a super competitive process and personal feelings about Chris Christie probably did not play a role here. PANYNJ probably threw the grant together at the last minute after the outcry about the bus terminal recently.

Anyway, the article says that PANYNJ already owns a vacant lot that they want to turn into a bus depot. Why don't they just open up the lot and allow buses to park there all day right now? That'll clear up some congestion until they have money to build a full depot

That's insane...How you don't provide the funds to fix a major problem at the busiest bus terminal in the world...

The PAs track record of mismanging federal and state funds is starting to catch up with them. And to be 100% honest NJT should be coming up with at least half of the money since that garage will be benifiting them the most.
