1995 Orion V CNG Posted November 24, 2014 Share #1 Posted November 24, 2014 I hear that NICE bus is not so great with maintenance, but is their any MTA depot(s) that have just as bad or worse maintenance then NICE bus depots?

Missabassie Posted November 24, 2014 Share #3 Posted November 24, 2014 Impossible indeed. LIB wasn't all that great, but at least they ran. NICE is nothing short of a tragedy.
Joel Up Front Posted November 25, 2014 Share #4 Posted November 25, 2014 NICE does clean the wheels every few months... and that's it. Sad to think that Far Rock and LGA are better at maintenance.

Joel Up Front Posted November 25, 2014 Share #6 Posted November 25, 2014 Don't they do engine work and replace parts? They seem to put it off until it's impossible to get the bus moving. I used to see NICE tow trucks around a lot before the arrival of the 3G's. I've had countless NGs with engine or transmission issues and one driver managed to nail a curb hard enough to cause the rear tires to almost come off the wheel. They really do wonder why ridership is going down.
1995 Orion V CNG Posted November 25, 2014 Author Share #7 Posted November 25, 2014 And these are fairly new buses too! What about the V CNGs?

1995 Orion V CNG Posted November 25, 2014 Author Share #10 Posted November 25, 2014 have you been on a NICE bus before? I've seen the videos that Pinepower LI post on his youtube. Some are not pretty. I really hope some of this money for FY 2015 goes to maintenance and service improvements.

Joel Up Front Posted November 26, 2014 Share #12 Posted November 26, 2014 I hope you know that there is a multi-quote feature on the boards. Responding to quotes one at a time like that is annoying.

Sad to think that Far Rock and LGA are better at maintenance. Actually, I think they just get new Acloas. But engine work is more important. Like I heard a while back that they have a coolant shortage going on. Also heard that the bus washes at both depots broke down a while back. Don't know if that's still the case now though. Now that I think about it, why don't they switch from acloas to Capstone hubcaps instead, like what the rest of the MTA did back in the early 2000s? Wouldn't that cut cost? 1995 Orion V CNG Posted November 28, 2014 Author Share #15 Posted November 28, 2014 I personally believe that no one at NICE bus has thought of that yet.
Burrstone Posted December 8, 2014 Share #16 Posted December 8, 2014 I personally believe that no one at NICE bus has thought of that yet. If you've thought of it I'm sure "NICE" has thought of it to they just opted not to (or can't afford to) we're talking about people (like seltzer) who've been running transit systems probably 2-3 times longer than you've been alive. Not trying to start anything, just saying...
