1995 Orion V CNG Posted November 24, 2014 Share #1 Posted November 24, 2014 I was reading that in the plan's the MTA called for 75 new hybrid buses to be ordered in the next 2 or 3 years. Anyone think that this will replace some of the 2004 Orion VII OG hybrids? Also, anyone want to bet that these are going to be XDE40s?
NewFlyer 230 Posted November 24, 2014 Share #2 Posted November 24, 2014 I thought the MTA was done ording Hybrid buses and will only stick to either CNG or clean Diesel. The hybrids we have are quite expensive to manage.
Missabassie Posted November 24, 2014 Share #3 Posted November 24, 2014 I personally would like to have some (a small number of) XDE40s. Don't know if it'll happen though. Basically, Manhattan can have the hybrids, and da boros can get the diesels.
1995 Orion V CNG Posted November 25, 2014 Author Share #4 Posted November 25, 2014 Yes, that's what I think will happen too.
Blitz Posted November 25, 2014 Share #5 Posted November 25, 2014 If anything, they won't be hybrids. They will most likely be fully electric buses like the LFSe or the BYD E bus

Xfer2Nowhere Posted November 25, 2014 Share #7 Posted November 25, 2014 The MTA should've experimented with the parallel hybrids (they probably did demo some), but the smaller engines were probably more attractive. I think the cost is enough to get them to reconsider.
