PATH Train to restore weekend service to WTC

JERSEY CITY — Regular weekend PATH service between Exchange Place and the World Trade Center will resume a week from Saturday, after a 10-month suspension to install a new signal system and repair damage from Hurricane Sandy, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said.

wouldn't the s89 to hblr be faster (if available)

x17 -> PATH is actually faster and more direct as there is a lot less walking for me. I have actually made it to JSQ in ONE HOUR on a Sunday from Eltingville Transit Center (note: I sprinted down the escalator from WTC and down the stairs to the platform). 

 

I'm a little more than one mile to Eltingville Transit Center, whereas the x17 is a five minute power walk from my place (the s55/s56 don't run weekends in case of bad weather). Also, HBLR isn't really an option, I would have to walk to the Boulevard from 34st HBLR Station to the 10 to JSQ, all other HBLR combinations (80, 87) aren't viable timewise. And since I don't work in New Jersey anymore I don't have my 3-Zone interstate pass :(.
