Yeah yesterday was a MESS.  I was supposed to be down in the Sheepshead Bay/Manhattan Beach area around 16:30, and saw how bad traffic was getting into the city from Morris Park on the BxM10, so I got the first express bus I could into South Brooklyn, which was a BM4.  Took that to Gerritsen Beach and made my way over from there.
