Univision dumps Trump, cancels Miss USA over his comments about Mexicans

Oh please.  Overreaction.  Trump already clarified himself on the issue and that should be the end of it.

That's why when you give a speech, you're suppose to be fully prepared. Even if he was "fully prepared", his statements had a lot of prejudiced statements. His "clarification" sounded more like a last attempt to mend the wall. Not a good way to start.

In addition, when he states that he wants to build a wall, and make mexico pay for it, you're sure as hell bound to be in caught up in a shitstorm, in addition to everything else that he mentioned. It's a formal speech, not a mocking session.

Really bad way to start off his presidential campaign, and he as a businessman should know that. Those statements are gonna bite him in the ass IF he gets elected.

I think he was prepared and he didn't mince words.  He said things that are true.  There are all sorts of bad people coming through the border down there.  Smuggling, be it people, drugs or what have you happens down there a lot.  It doesn't matter what he said because anytime anyone talks about border security or securing our borders, the immigrant population gets in an uproar. As an American I agree with him.  The current drug problem in the U.S. is being exacerbated by the border situation with Mexico.  The Mexicans aren't necessarily to blame for all of the problems but their border is being used by people with bad intentions (i.e. drug cartels from other countries and the like).  That needs to be addressed.

Stupid ass computer just decided to reload on it's own. Anyways, I'm not gonna repeat everything of what I had planned to write, so I'm gonna shorten it up.

You can't generalize a group of people because of certain people in that group. It just doesn't work that way. There are people who come here for reasons other than to come and bring drugs, to rape, or to murder people. He's also saying that everyone coming in through the border is a murderer, rapist, or a drug trafficker, which is highly incorrect. In addition, if Mexico is not the only cause, why is Trump putting all the blame on Mexico, and want Mexico to pay for a wall that he wants to build. Of course there's gonna be uproar.

He also made a big mistake by stating that China and Japan are a major threat to the US (besides Mexico), without backing up his claims. Unlucky for him, China, Japan, and Mexico are in the top five trading partners of the US (in terms of exports/imports). He as a businessman should have known this, and what potential situations this could land himself into. I think he said his speech very poorly. Then to do a total 360 and say that he loves Mexico and it's people? I really don't know what to say then...

Trump has no business campaigning to be president IMO. Sure, he's getting the conversation going again about the Mexican border but he would ruffle too many feathers and make more enemies than what this country already has now.

But the fact that he's suing Univision I don't really blame him for especially if it was an "iron-clad" TV contract that doesn't have an out clause. That's the smartest thing he's done yet, even if it came after all that blabbering. If there's one thing you never do is cheat Trump out of his money.

The thing is Trump doesn't need to tiptoe around anything.  He's got money and he doesn't need anyone.  You're right.  He's going to ruffle feathers but he made some very good points, especially about trade.  We don't manufacture enough here and need to bring more manufacturing jobs back here as many US companies have started doing.  China, Japan and Mexico are major trading partners primarily because of the amount of American jobs that have gone overseas, so there's a huge trade imbalance particularly with China and that needs to change.  Previous American presidents have campaigned about being tough on China (lol) but they can't because we owe too much debt to the Chinese so we need to play nice with them.  I listened to his speech.  He didn't say all Mexicans and he made that clear.  There is no way to bring up Mexico and the border problem without pissing people off, but there is no question that there is a safety issue there that needs to be addressed. The border is too long and we don't have enough money to patrol all of it.

In that first speech he said some Mexicans are all right. Let's not waste words. The man is a racist. He has no business slamming people like that in the twenty first century. This is like the Know Nothing party in the nineteenth century. Sometimes you can't just bow your head at people like that. You have to slap it. Thank you Univision.

Anyone who tells it like it is is a racist these days.  We need more people to be frank.  Now surely he'll piss some people off but it's time for America to stop avoiding these issues and having frank discussions about them and actually RESOLVE them.  We have a broken border in Mexico for some time now, and Obama promised that he would tackle the issue, which he clearly hasn't done, nor is the border safe, so I'm not exactly sure how Trump is lying when the amount of drug trafficking and human trafficking for that matter continues to be a problem at the Mexican border, and the reality is these things aren't happening by themselves.  There has to be people involved in these problems, and unfortunately some of those people are Mexicans, but God forbid we tell the truth here.  Calling him a racist for stating the obvious seems rather ignorant.  Now had he said that ALL Mexicans are drug dealers or criminals, then I could understand your point, but his comments are actually quite accurate.

You could look at the accounts of I.C.E. who could confirm Trump's comments.  I'm sorry, but while the vast majority of immigrants are coming here for opportunities, there are those who are criminals, and denying that is simply foolish.

The way he said it though

"and I assume that there are some good people".

He essentially stated that he has doubt in believing that there are good people without him actually knowing or not. That's just a bad way of putting it out there. Yes there are people who come through the border who are criminals. Even the immigrant population knows that, that's not the problem with his speech. It's about how he said it, and in the most disrespectful way possible. Really bad choice of words, even if he didn't mean it. After that statement, he goes on talking about building a wall and having Mexico pay for it (which is a far-fetched idea to begin with).

lol... In any event he echoed sentiments that clearly others have given his current ratings.

Sorry Via but he meant all. Not just illegals but all. Hey I remember an Austrian that people liked because he spoke his mind, wanted to make a greater nation and blamed what he thought were inferior people on its problems. Wrote a book, got elected chancellor and set the planet on fire causing the deaths of millions. That's why you stand up to that garbage. Also Trump would look stupid with a toothbrush mustache.

Don't be ridiculous.  You're comparing him to Adolf Hitler who ordered the persecution of millions of Jews, disabled people, homosexuals and others who he thought were inferior?  That's a terrible comparison.  Hitler was part Jewish himself, which of course he didn't publicize.  Trump on the other hand is an American patriot who loves his country and is simply speaking against some of the issues that everyone else seems to be shying away from.  We DO have a security problem at the border with Mexico.  There ARE dangerous individuals coming from the Mexican border (some of them are Mexican and some aren't).  Are you aware of the amount of corruption and class inequality in Mexico? He has some very good points.  As a Spanish major, I've studied Spain and ALL of Latin America, from pre-Columbus to the current, and Mexico's middle class is almost non-existent, with basically the very rich (some 10% of the population) controlling just about all of the wealth.  That means that you will have all sorts of people crossing the border, some looking for honest work, but plenty of corrupt individuals too.  With so many people having so little, there's desperation that settles in.  That's the ugly truth.  There's drug smuggling, human trafficking and the like.  To deny that any of things exist at the border would be preposterous, and the U.S. should take more steps to protect its borders, not only with Mexico, but with Canada as well.

We also need a comprehensive immigration plan, which Obama promised when he became president during his first term, and hasn't delivered then NOR in his second term.  It's unfair to have skilled people coming here legally, while millions enter illegally bypassing our laws and making a mockery of our country.  As a product of a family whose father's parents came from Sicily, I'm all for immigration, but it should be LEGAL and there should be a time limit set for those who want to come here.  We need jobs for our own citizens and not just jobs but GOOD paying jobs.  I don't think building a wall will solve our problems, but it's a start in the right direction.  Mexico as a country needs to look itself in the mirror and eradicate the out of control corruption in that country. If they did that alone, many of their citizens would remain and would be able to afford to live decent middle class lives.

Italy has been hit hard with illegal immigration from African countries like Libya and it entered into a pact whereby it gave Libya money to combat all of the illegal people pouring into the country that were being smuggled into Western Europe via Sicily and other small Italian islands.  Libya has done a much better job of tightening its borders.  The same would never happen with Mexico because Mexico believes that much of the U.S. belongs to it due to the history of wars between the two countries, so there's this sense of entitlement that they can just come here as they please, even if they are illegal, and that's simply unacceptable in the 21st century.  We have laws, and our laws need to be respected, and they as a country need to be doing a much better job of stopping Mexicans and other illegal people from bypassing their borders and entering this country illegally, which outweighs the amount of legal people by a sizable margin.

Like I said he blasted all Mexicans then segwayed to undesirables. Yes you have to have laws and control borders but if you put on blast an entire people, you are done. And most illegals overstay visas. And I never heard that Hitler was part Jewish.
