The has the highest ridership in the B division. They're not gonna waste time putting cars like these on those lines. Not gonna be 100% but they'll end up there. And I never said Jamaica is loosing all the R160's. Only a chunk, could be up to 250 or more cars. Historiclly queens always got new cars first with the exception of the R42's and R68's. Coney Island should wait, there's no need to give them these cars so early. The base order isn't gonna replace all the R46's. They could easily give Jamaica 200-250 cars that could push out 200-250 R160's back to CI. To bump out a small portion of R160's. It's obvious the is getting them first.

Just because the cars have wider doors and a line has heavy ridership, doesn’t necessarily make a line a definite contender. Jamaica just got a surplus of R160’s for Queens Boulevard CBTC. It’s bad enough Queens Boulevard has two different CBTC companies... why would Transit put R211’s there when the priority is to REPLACE R46’s and the remaining R32’s?! Who cares about them board meetings. Thats all pre planning and hypothetical information. It’s a meeting not a contractual agreement. http://web.mta.info/mta/news/books/pdf/190122_1400_CPOC.pdf read this at page 29 It says the first R211A test train was scheduled to be delivered in July 2020, In Close coordination in conjunction with the installation of CBTC on the IND Queens Boulevard Line, which must provide the on-board equipment, mock-ups, drawings and other technical information for Kawasaki’s use, is required in order to insure on time delivery of the Initial Train in July 2020, Thereafter, new R211 cars would be produced and delivered at a rate of 30 to 40 cars per month. Which This Means Jamaica Yard will be receiving R211s for CBTC in QBL and Return/Swap all R160s back to Coney Island Yard.

Any car with the new systemwide standard (starting with QBL equipped units) can run on any of the new and upcoming installations. First of all, I'm fully aware of Fleet Swaps Between CI Yard and Jamaica, Second I'm aware that Jamaica will be fully R160s but when R211s are replacing R46s, R211s produced and delivered at a rate of 30 to 40 cars per month, it will be going to first to CI Yard and Pitkin by Replacing all the R46s and R44s, then after that it will go to Jamaica Yard in conjunction with the installation of CBTC on the IND Queens Boulevard Line, by that time in 2021 CBTC in QBL will be completed and activated. so that means Jamaica Yard might be fully R211s and Coney Island Yard might be R160s again.

I presume most of the R211 base order is going to be standard closed-end cars and that - if successful - the R211T (open-end) cars will be on the option order. Given the Jamaica lines’ high ridership, they should get more of the open-gangway cars. 5 hours ago, subwaycommuter1983 said: In the case of F and R getting r211's?? It's a rumor. Why wouldn’t it be? Please tell me they are not going to use two completely incompatible systems on QBL and 8th Avenue that would somehow restrict R160s from operating on the 8th Avenue Line. Because that would be downright foolish and incompetent on the MTA’s part. In more ways than one. LTA1992 Posted February 18, 2020 Share #1496 Posted February 18, 2020 (edited) Honestly, it makes perfect sense to leave the 160s at Jamaica and send most of the 211s to CIY, 207, and Pitkin. Simply put, the and (currently my educated guesses on where the 211s will primarily run outside of the few we all seem to agree will go to QBL) are services that tend to be very congested at rush hour. Unlike the QBL (which will have CBTC online by the time the first 211s go into passenger service), these lines will still be mostly manual and can't run anywhere near as much service. To compensate, the might be operating on the thinking that since they can't expand service yet, mitigate congestion with the wider doors and open gangways. This is why I think there won't be any 160s leaving Jamaica. Edited February 18, 2020 by LTA1992
