TransitJusticeForAll Posted May 25, 2016 Share #3 Posted May 25, 2016 WOW, nice catch! SBS scheme looks good on the Xcelsior! Its been running the streets for weeks for the upcoming +SBSB46. More XD40s are being currently wrapped at this time.
Via Garibaldi 8 Posted May 25, 2016 Share #4 Posted May 25, 2016 Are they short on artics or do they plan on running only 40 footers on the B46SBS?
S78 via Hylan Posted May 25, 2016 Share #5 Posted May 25, 2016 Are they short on artics or do they plan on running only 40 footers on the B46SBS?For now, they'll use the XD40's until newer artics arrive.
DetSMART45 Posted May 25, 2016 Share #6 Posted May 25, 2016 So they decided to scrap the turquoise SBS scheme in favor of dark blue? Not really good, IMHO, with the same basic scheme color being put onto the new "high tech" fleet. If customers don't read the destination signs anyways, let's just confuse them with the new XD60s and new SBS wrap. But at least it gave some committee some work to do in doing this "improvement". Customers are illiterate, to colorblind. They won't be confused at all. SBS has been around long enough to where a slight color change won't be an issue. FLX9304 Posted May 27, 2016 Share #8 Posted May 27, 2016 You may two new colors: one for locals and one for SBS buses. What the MTA needs to do is do one for express buses so that no more white with blue stripes exists

They already put SBS-wrapped buses on regular Local service and vice versa. If it doesn't really matter, then get rid of it, save money on labor doing the wrapping, and come up with one scheme, so that all buses can be used across all routes. Wanna wrap buses? That should be the sole business of Outfront when selling ad space. Maybe if that happened, you wouldn't be constantly be facing fare hikes, because the ad dollars would help the bottom line. But then again, that probably only works in places everywhere ELSE than NYC -- which is the number ONE ad market coveted by advertisers. At least according to "experts" like you (and others) on this forum, of course.

At least according to "experts" like you (and others) on this forum, of course. needs to go back to wrapping buses... At least rear wraps. Most of the good ads go to Manhattan Division buses, (Local), and all express bus depots. It's rare that you have a Broadway production ad on a Brooklyn division bus unless it's transferred from Manhattan and plus Brooklyn is very much looking like Manhattan. However, what's missing in Brooklyn is more 30x240 bus ads, L shaped 30x215 // 30x240 and roof ads.
