R6830: The Andrew Johnson Transit Photo Journal

R68 Subway Car

Recommended Posts

These cars have been such a major part of my life. I rode these things to Coney Island as a kid. I used to live in an apartment that is next to the Brighton Line...and I saw these cars on the  (D) Brighton Local Line. I have photographed these cars with multiple cameras. I am so glad to see one the New York City Subway's best cars make it to 30. I hope to see these ladies make it to 50. This is my 30th Anniversary Photo Set. Great job! For the past 30 years, the R68s have been the heart and soul of the (D). Whenever they leave, it will feel very different! I have always pondered how great it would be to live alongside an outdoor line. It would be amazing if I were able to be able to live alongside a line. It would be almost impossible to be bored!

Thanks so much! I feel the same way about the R68s leaving the D.
