BRENTWOOD, N.Y. — One person was killed after a Long Island Rail Road non-passenger train struck a car in Brentwood Monday night.

The unauthorized vehicle was hit by a train west of the Brentwood station around 8 p.m.

Service was suspended in both directions between Farmingdale and Ronkonkoma. By 9:30, the MTA had restored service.

Commuters should expect delays of up to an hour as regular service resumes.

No other details about the death were made available.

Unfortunately people don't understand car vs train, train always wins.

Lucky it wasn't a passenger train involved.
