Interesting, especially when they come off from SEPTA last Summer/Fall... but I'm not sure if they're really needed this summer due to the planned partial shutdown at Penn Station where LIRR will experience reduced services

Still needed. These are primarily for the Montauk Branch.

More like sort on seats (cue nonstop reports every summer about overcrowded trains)

Very interesting. Not really sure if needed though. The trains may be overcrowded, but they're pretty much at capacity right now.

I think the cars should be used on the Greenport Shuttle, and/or the Oyster Bay Branch, while freeing the bi-levels to the Montauk Branch

From what I understand, the bi-levels are being run into the ground because there aren't enough of them to run the minimum service guidelines stipulated by the LIRR anyways, so every little bit counts.

meaning we are short or they are pretty much running them "all hands on deck" with no spares
