A derailment and power outage at the 125th Street subway station in Manhattan has suspended service on multiple subway lines as riders describe terror and chaos, including smoke-filled cars and loud bangs. The MTA confirmed the derailment in a tweet shortly before 11 a.m. Tuesday, saying the A train had been evacuated. Transit and fire sources tell NBC 4 New York at least one car derailed at a low rate of speed. Emergency crews were dealing with reports of three or four injuries, all described as minor.

Again R46 this time on (A) derailment something is seriously wrong with those subway cars.
R68s are not experiencing these problems.

Three injured, hundreds evacuated after A train derails in Harlem

Three people were injured and hundreds were evacuated Tuesday after a section of a Harlem A train flew off the tracks and smoke began to fill the subway cars during the morning rush hour, officials and witnesses said.

The Brooklyn-bound train came to a grinding halt outside the 125th St. station near St. Nicholas Ave. about 9:45 a.m. after an apparent power outage, witnesses said.

At least one train car got dislodged from the tracks in what officials describe as a minor derailment, according to law enforcement sources.

“Lights went out and train halted just shy of the 125th St. stop of the A train,” straphanger Jackie Faherty tweeted. “Passengers slowly let out.”

Smoke began to fill the train cars, other straphangers said.

“Just got evacuated from a smoke filled train in probably the most terrifying 15 minutes of my NYC life ??” another train commuter tweeted.

Riders said the lights and air conditioning on their train went kaput at first.

The MTA reported a loss of power at 125th St. after 9:30 a.m., holding up A, C, B, and D trains.

"@NYCTSubway lights and a/c went out on train and train came to a full stop. What's going on? Downtown A train about to pull into 125th," Jenny Loeffler wrote on Twitter.

The MTA's subway alert feed on Twitter said crews are working on bringing power back but had no estimate for how long it'll be out.

Three people with minor injuries were being treated at the scene, an FDNY spokesman said.

Apparently those 3 people evacuated the subway car and walked thru the tunnel and into the station. Again, it is stressed that people shouldn't walk thru the tunnel.

The bigger issue is that the (A) needs new train cars and ASAP. If the governor can accelerate construction on the roads, it needs to be the same with the subways. Plus we are about to approach the summer of hell. July 1st to September 1st with all these repairs.
