Around the Horn Posted July 4, 2017 Share #76 Posted July 4, 2017 If the MTA can't bother to increase service on the B32, then can't they short turn some B62 at Court Square instead of going all the way to Queens Plaza? Would that short turn make much of a difference? That's like 1 minute of trip time...
NY1635 Posted July 4, 2017 Share #77 Posted July 4, 2017 Would that short turn make much of a difference? That's like 1 minute of trip time... Yes since the passengers who take the B32 and B62 to the subway will most likely transfer to the and trains at Court Square-23rd than Queens Plaza for the same train. I don't see what B62 short-turns at Court Square will do with regards to B32 service. There's no good turnaround for the B62 at Court Square unless it deviates off the regular route and turns around anyway.

LIC bound B62s can just make a right at 44th Dr from 11th and terminate in front of the Court Square stop. Brooklyn bound B62 buses can pick up passengers from there, continue down 44th Drive, make a right on 21st Street, another right on Jackson Avenue, and left onto the Pulaski Bridge. I fail to see how a service cut on the B62 helps the B32. Just increase B32 service then... No need to cut B62 service from Queens Plaza.

Cutting back some B62 trips at Court Sq. is not a substitute for more B32 service... The B62 serves Court Sq. anyway; the difference is literally passengers coming off the 21st st side of the station vs. coming off the or the stations more proximal to Jackson av.... The B62 already has a stop that connects to the Court Square station (at Jackson and 45 Aves) The B32's purpose was to give an alternative to riders in Williamsburg, not just a transfer to the and .
