MassTransitHonchkrow Posted July 24, 2017 Share #1 Posted July 24, 2017 East New York, the neighborhood in Brooklyn that has been disinvested by leaders and a notable casualty of the 70s riots, has a population that is over three-quarters low-income and an engagement rate with the city and MTA that doesn't even match half of that figure. I was on the train earlier this month and decided to take some photos. It was a sunny, cool day with bright blue skies and lotsa wind. The perfect time to take photos to put Blightland in a better light so to speak.
Via Garibaldi 8 Posted July 24, 2017 Share #2 Posted July 24, 2017 Nothing new about the area. It's always been considered to be a ghetto, even when Italians and Jews lived there. Back in the old days, it was considered to be far out, so it was relatively cheap, but the land was never that great. If the City does what they claim they're going to and they start re-zoning the area, look out.

I don't remember much because I was on so much meds. Sent from my HP ENVY m6 Notebook PC using Tapatalk I also took pictures of the underground portions between Bushwick-Aberdeen and Lorimer. Halsey somehow got stuck in the wrong slide. MassTransitHonchkrow Posted July 24, 2017 Author Share #5 Posted July 24, 2017 @around_the_horn it doesn't always have to be that way. Sooner or later, the issues being ignored here will spread and they'll have to address it. But, like you, I don't see any chance of that with current leadership. Racism isn't a southern charm. It's a national cancer. Jim Crow down there, affordable housing up here. No fundamental difference and achieves the same exclusionary goal. Sent from my HP ENVY m6 Notebook PC using Tapatalk I think I saw these pics before.... Just saying. You did? I posted Culver but I wasn't sure if I posted East NY. I did post these on DA and my Hitchhikers Guide. If I did could you link me to the original?
