"Memories of the Erie Railroad-First Generation Diesels" is a thirty minute survey of the Erie Railroad Mainline between Jersey City and Starrucca Viaduct in Lanesboro, PA as well as the New Jersey & New York Branch to Woodbine Yard in Spring Valley.

Scenes prior to and following the 1960 merger of the Erie and Lackawanna are included. A wide variety of first generation units are observed including GP7's, RS3's, E8's and PA's. A rare ALCo HH660 is observed switching passenger cars at the Jersey City Terminal. The tour begins at the Erie's ferry terminal in New York City and stops at numerous intermediate locations, providing a very comprehensive look at the railroad. We are even treated to unusual action scenes of the steam powered swing bridge spanning the Passaic River between Rutherford and Passaic Park.

The archive film and carefully synchronized soundtrack are up to Mark 1's typically high standards. "Memories of the Erie Railroad-First Generation Diesels" is available in VHS format at a list price of $26.95 or on a combination DVD with "Memories of the Erie Lackawanna-Volume 3" for $34.95. The program provides an excellent look at Northern New Jersey railroading long before it became the domain of NJ Transit GP40PH-2's, PL42AC's, Comets and multi-levels!
