D Train R40 Subway car 1987 at Brighton Line

Unselfishprism

The Brighton line has an extremely varied right of way, subway, open cut, embankment, and elevated structure. BMT had more variety in its rights of way than the other components of the NYCTA system, but the Brighton line is perhaps the most varied--all they lacked was expressway running and surface running with grade crossings. (NY lacks the former and had the latter on the Canarsie line until fairly recently.)
