  1. Something to look forward to if you feel like venturing up to Connecticut to do some bus fanning this summer: Governor Lamont Implements Free Weekend Bus Service During Summer Months System-wide 3 days ago Governor Ned Lamont announced that as part of his administration’s ongoing efforts to help the state recover from the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, he is directing CTtransit to provide free, statewide bus service to all customers every weekend this summer beginning Memorial Day weekend and lasting through Labor Day. The governor said that offering free bus service during the weekends will encourage people in Connecticut to visit locally owned, small businesses and help support the economy in those communities that have been most heavily impacted by the pandemic, particularly within the state’s largest cities. "To help support our economic recovery from the pandemic, I want to make Connecticut’s many attractions and businesses reachable by as many of our residents as possible, and implementing free weekend bus service this summer – the busiest time of tourism season – will help facilitate that," Governor Lamont said. "I thank Connecticut’s Congressional delegation for advocating on behalf of our state to ensure that we receive the resources needed to help recover from this pandemic." Approximately 20 percent of residents in cities such as New Britain and Waterbury, and around 30 percent of residents in Hartford and New Haven do not own cars and rely on transit, among other transportation options, for mobility. "Our ability to attract weekend riders through a free weekend-ride program gives our state and our residents an additional boost towards returning to normal," Connecticut Transportation Commissioner Joe Giulietti said. In addition to Saturdays and Sundays, the free service will also include the Memorial Day holiday on Monday, May 31, 2021; the observed Independence Day holiday on Monday, July 5, 2021; and the Labor Day holiday on Monday, September 6, 2021. https://portal.ct.gov/Office-of-the-Governor/News/Press-Releases/2021/03-2021/Governor-Lamont-Implements-Free-Weekend-Bus-Service-During-Summer-Months

  3. Last week I was planning to get an onboard video of one of the PM QM20 trips where an MCI D4500 regularly appeared, but the trip ended up using a regular D4500CLs. I didn't end up empty handed though, since I got footage of one of the new Prevosts in operation on an inbound QM2 trip to Midtown. 2021 Prevost X3-45 Commuter Coach 1315 on the QM2 at Bell Boulevard & 23rd Avenue by BM5 Photos 2019-2021, on Flickr 2021 Prevost X3-45 Commuter Coach 1315 on the QM2 at Bell Boulevard & 23rd Avenue by BM5 Photos 2019-2021, on Flickr Here some additional footage of Prevosts operating on other routes: 2021 Prevost X3-45 Commuter Coach 1310 on the QM20 at Corporal Kennedy Street & 23rd Avenue by BM5 Photos 2019-2021, on Flickr 2021 Prevost X3-45 1303 on the QM4 at Jewel Avenue & 164th Street by BM5 Photos 2019-2021, on Flickr 2021 Prevost X3-45 1303 on the QM4 at Jewel Avenue & 164th Street by BM5 Photos 2019-2021, on Flickr 2021 Prevost X3-45 1309 on the QM35 at Springfield Boulevard & Horace Harding Expressway by BM5 Photos 2019-2021, on Flickr 2021 Prevost X3-45 1300 on the QM40 at 63rd Road & Queens Boulevard by BM5 Photos 2019-2021, on Flickr 2021 Prevost X3-45 1309 on the QM35 at Springfield Boulevard & Horace Harding Expressway by BM5 Photos 2019-2021, on Flickr Thanks for viewing, and I hope you enjoyed!

  4. People don't read and are stupid and lazy. I had two people try to board my BxM2 today in the drop-off segment. Driver is waiving them off telling them its not a bus for pick-up. Smh

  6. The fact they even dedicate a section of the site to enthusiasts is more than enough for me..... A schedule collector as a kid? Yep, that I was.... Hell, I have some CTTransit (Stamford) schedules in my little collection (and no, I'm not selling them, like that doofus @brokecrazy kept sporadically going around spamming the forums here with his BS, advertising selling his transit memorabilia, either ).... Granted, their operations are much smaller, but why can't every transit provider be this transparent with the riding public?!

  7. Like the 44, the 46 got a pneumatic brake system that was not tested before; they switched the controller to the Cineston controller which let motormen use their wrench by the side of the controller box, and the brake system was updated to the NYAB NewTran SMEE braking system. As far as the blue stripe goes, it was prone to getting hit by graffiti during the worst years of the corporate era, so they removed it completely during the General Overhaul Program.

  8. April 19th is the first class. 3 operators from my depot are in it. So we're at least up to #28 on the list.

  9. Yeah if CS isn't available, you will go to either depot based on where the operators in front of you go. When a spot opens up at CS, they will let you know that it's time. Also finish probation before going to Track. If you leave before the year, it'll become a one way deal. You don't like it, you will have to go through the hoops of getting your name readded on the list. You'll lose all your seniority, etc. It's not fun nor a guarantee that you'll be able to come back to being a bus operator.

  10. Why do people get on the bus, sitdown and THEN ask a passenger not the driver, if the bus is going uptown or downtown and what route it is? Dude got on the S/B M3 asking if it was the uptown BX19. Mind you this happened quite a few blocks NORTH of 145th where the BX19 runs.

  11. Right now (with the exception of #3131 and #3191), every single bus on the weekend College Point routes is a Prevost. Just thought that was kinda interesting...

  12. And the only things he's achieved is universal pre-K (good), and pissing off the entire Tri-state Area. Dr Doofenshmirtz would've been a better leader - he at least tried.
