  1. Welcome to my sign and sign font recreation thread! I've decided to create my own after seeing that there haven't really been any active sign recreation request threads. As an overenthusiastic sign nerd, I have been studying all types of signs, including rollsign, flipdot, LCD, and LED signs found on both buses and trains, as well as the types of bus signs, and also station signs! Consequently, I have also learned to recreate many of these signs and fonts, which I will be sharing and also taking requests for. Current Recreations: -Luminator Flipdot (no slide transition animation) -Luminator Horizon LED -Luminator Titan LED (some fonts missing) -Hanover Displays LED -R46 LCD exterior (also known as Luminator) -R68 rollsign interior -R160 LED exterior (for exterior K, P, and T routes, characters may be used from the R179) -R179 LED exterior+interior (exterior K, P, and T route characters available) -Most station signs Planned Recreations: -Redbird/Brightliner rollsign -R40/R42 rollsign -R62/A rollsign -R142 LCD exterior -R142 LED interior -R142A LCD exterior -R142A LED interior -IRT NTT LED exterior (R142, R188) -R188 LED interior -R143 LED exterior+interior -R160 LED interior My extensive collection of MTA bus and subway signs (bus signs are currently not being updated): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1d9cQ8mAmp78AtavgXt4lAu5ey7Uimp2sEKNHuoY0nQU Full list of my fonts: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1e4nNlpRJTOTGR7SLSzbmKmvqlEFX2CXbKhJ4B0sxkl0/edit?usp=sharing Download my fonts on FontStruct: https://fontstruct.com/fontstructors/1466679/bentheminer If you would like to request any signs or ask for any information about signs, feel free to do so (though I'm not saying I know absolutely everything there is to know about signs). Note that unfortunately, if you are making a sign request, I will be unable to provide you with characters that the MTA does not use (i.e. R160 Y train). You can see which characters I am able and unable to use by looking at my font collection. When making a request, feel free to provide a reference photo if you're requesting a real sign. If you plan on using any of these signs, I would appreciate it if you gave credit to me, and please do not steal credit! I've been working very hard to be able to make these signs and I'd like at least your gratitude in return. Also, despite all the fonts I'm making, many are actually incomplete. If you have any sign references that could help me complete these fonts, please post them! I'll keep trying to check this thread daily! Here are some examples of my sign recreations:

  2. Used to tell any inspectors on the bus if the person paid the fare. They were removed after one of them fell on a passenger.

  3. Not yet. Bus has to do its burn-in pilot test first, order isn't supposed to begin delivery until November.

  4. 7674 got road called today Caught one of the three ECH Prevosts the other day, I botched the photo cause I was caught off guard and trying to avoid people.

  6. If we got rid of community boards, the de Blasio types would have a field day ramming through projects with their one size fits all mentality. Make no mistake about it. For the most part, he doesn't give a damn about the outer borough middle class areas. He's trying to destroy areas of Northeast Queens like Little Neck, claiming that he's making a "fairer" City. Please. Same nonsense in Middle Village and Glendale.

  7. I'm not all that high on them either, but I'm curious as to why you deem this city would significantly be a better place without em.... I think it would be immaterial/wouldn't make much difference if they didn't exist.

  8. update on this... or whatever you wanna call it.... Just came from off the not too long ago & walked over to catch a B35.... I won't give bus numbers (I do have them jotted down), but this all happened b/w 5:38-5:47pm.... I went in, expecting to see most, if not every bus dropping folks off at the EB New Lots/Mother Gaston stop (which is in-fact now a shared stop, in terms of what's shown on the bus stop pole)... Didn't happen. Out of the 4 arriving EB buses on that end of the route between the aforementioned timeframe, a grand total of none of them stopped at that New Lots/Mother Gaston stop... Oh well.... 1st arriving bus I saw, came in on Hegeman, and did (what I suppose is now) the old turnaround scenario - that is, left on Mother Gaston & left onto New Lots... Took a brief 3 min. layover in from the daycare, then off he went. 2nd arriving bus came in on Hegeman, continued to Mother Gaston, but made a right on Mother Gaston.... That means OOS. 3rd arriving bus stopped dead (as in, took the layover) on the hatch stripe - in the middle of the area where Hegeman & New Lots diverge) 4th arriving bus came in on Hegeman, but stopped dead on the right-most lane at the far corner of Hegeman/Watkins When I'm out & about from here on out, I'm going to take a mental note of the rate of incoming EB B35's stopping at the (now shared) New Lots/Mother Gaston with the B15.... For as frequent as the B35 is, I don't see this move being a viable one....

  9. Well I guess that wasn't its final trip... it's currently in service and running on the QM1 into the city as we speak 🤣

  10. The new Prevosts make a stop at Yukon for Farebox and Radio installation as Meredith does not have the facilities for these things.

  11. Were those previously wrecked sets? I only know of 7425, 7044. Back to the original topic, I'm genuinely surprised that the LIRR decided to do this. Frankly, I didn't think they had the intelligence capability to even think this one up seeing how many other archaic practices they keep in place and corners they cut in other aspects of their day-to-day operation (i.e. copying and pasting schedules from the 80's, adding runtime to boost their numbers, making bad decisions in general with procuring their fleet, delayed expansion projects, not to mention how the LIRR MoW department has some overtime scandal every few years). Even if this BEMU doesn't work out, it's weird seeing LIRR step out of their comfort zone and at least try, they've always been one to maintain the status quo.
