Wish they would clean those dirty ass windows on the LIRR M7's. There are windows you can barely see out of on most of the LIRR M7 fleet, very annoying.

Anyway, nice to hear that the M7s are doing good mechanically.

I say yes to that and add that there's a good amount of graffiti on the windows of M7's (the Long Island Railroad on not MNR) and the C3 double decker cars. They should replace the plastic more often. The maintenance of the M7's is going down also. A lot of M7's I've seen have flat wheels, so when they pass by all you hear are the wheels thudding against the rails. There's that and the fact that the train that I was on going to Babylon had a bad skweeking problem in the gangway area.

I’m curious, what is replacing all these random 2005 Orion VII’s that are retiring?

XDE-40's New Flyers that the MTA wants to get. Saw it in a report that they put out, that they wanna get about 270 of them. I like the ones that are running out of GA, saw one yesterday on the B62, #9406.

Every once in a while. On a weekend they will slap at least one XD40 on the 38 but most times you are correct with this.

UNRELATED: New Wrap alert for Flatbush, Fresh Pond and Gleason by way of Ulmer Park, Staten Island and Manhattan Divisions. Saw the latest wraps yesterday on a Staten Island Division exp bus and Manhattan Division bus.

They're putting the blue, yellow, and sky blue scheme on the Orion VII NG's?

  4. Doing something with B46 is the best option. You could use the middle track that is used to store trains as part of the line if you extend the (4) but It would be too much money for that so it's not the best thing to do. Putting 60 foot buses on the Select Bus Service and the local is something that should be done. The MTA should have the B46 SBS go to the Williamsburg Bridge bus terminal.

  5. I was curious to know why FB that uses artic buses for the Sbs44 dont get some of the xd60 orders? I can see the 44 using the new flyers style instead of the Novas......

No one says anything about the M15 getting new stuff :(. Oh and to the guy that made the emojii's of bus routes you left out Q, M, and S routes.

  6. Also I will propose changing local/express in the IRT Eastern Parkway line. Make the (2) express and the (4) local. It would balance out service since there would be direct access to Lexington Avenue line from local stations and quicker access to 7 Avenue line. So it would look like this

    Express: (2)(5)

    Local: (3)(4)

The (4) however will still maintain that express segment between Franklin Avenue and Utica Avenue.

That's a really bad idea. The only way for the 4 to get to local tracks and the 2 to get to the express is via a series of crossovers just west of Atlantic ave. Your essentially creating a second bottleneck on a line that already struggles with delays as is. Having the 4 crossover to the local tracks would delay the 3 train or the 2 train. Having 2 train go express would delay the 4 or 5 train and same problem would be encountered when you get to the Nostrand interlocking just east of Franklin.

  7.

Oh sorry about misreading however the whole fantasy map is just junk and would screw up the whole NYC subway system more than it already is.

It's fine, happens to everyone. I wouldn't say that the whole map is really bad, it just does not match up with the needs of the people. The planner of the map took out the merging point east of Franklin between the 2/5, which makes sense from an operational point of view, because local trains aren't held at the station while the express trains cross the interlocking and head under Nostrand ave. However, from a political point of view Nostrand Ave riders want express service into Manhattan. Also, I see what the creator was trying to do with the J by sending it up to Metro.;he wanted to give the train to Canarsire priority by not making it hold at the station because a train is in front of it crossing the Myrtle interlocking. Again that idea makes sense because you at least eliminate one aspect of the problem at Myrtle. This routing, between Marcy and Myrtle, is idea that I've actually thinking about for quite a while now. Instead of the J run express between Marcy and Myrtle have the M run express. It at least eliminates one of the bottlenecks on J during the PM rush, but enough foaming. In all I think this is one of the better fantasy maps that I have seen because at least it try to solve some of the problems in the system. It does not solve all of the problems and some of the ideas aren't great, but at least it's a start.

G train would still disrupt service along Queens Plaza if it terminated there. Say if it did terminate there, it would use the express tracks to layover. The problem is that  (E)  trains would have to switch to the local track and it would delay  (M)  and  (R) trains since especially I've been to Queens Plaza on the  (R) train and I always see the  (E) right there on the express track. So if you are gonna have the  (G)  connect to the IND Queens Boulevard line, might as well restore it's former service to Forest Hills.

It's like you didn't even read a word I said. I was going by the fantasy map not the existing map. That's why I talking about the A and E trains in the map and not the E,M,R trains that currently run. Again,ACTUALLY read what I said and then respond back to me.

  9.  Seriously you are gonna piss off a lot of subway riders like this.  (L) truncated to Broadway Junction and (B) to Canarsie? That's gotta be one of the silliest ideas I have ever heard  . And I live by Fresh Pond Road and I do not want the  (J) to replace the  (M)(J)  is fine the way it is and the  (M) reroute to Forest Hills to replace the  (V) also helped me get to Times Square without having to transfer to the  (N)  or  (Q) . And a  (9)  resurrection and an 8 train is crap. The IRT 7th avenue line is fine the way it is and the Lexington Avenue Line also is fine the way it is. Also you're eliminating the Brighton Line Express. I'm not gonna lie but I thought it wouldn't be needed earlier when I posted a  (B) reroute but I realized the Brighton Express is needed and my idea was crap. Also you can't have the  (G)  terminate at Queens Plaza. It would disrupt service  at the station since it would layover and have to switch tracks. It's better if you just restored it to Forest Hills-71 Avenue like it used to. And  (M) train on 2nd Avenue and Broadway line? Even a proposal of QJT to merge B13 and Q67 (which made no sense of course) is more believable than that . And also  (A) to Jamaica-179 Street and  (B) to Inwood and  (F) to WTC? I bet you'll get sued. Wait a minute  (C)  train to Coney Island? This is one of the worst ideas I have ever heard. I suggest you study the NYC Subway system or else you are gonna get bashed a lot. And those are like half of the flawspointed out.

Actually if the service pattern was running that they laid out in the map, the G terminating at Queens plaza would not effect service at all. Trains aren't coming out of the 11st street cut meaning that there are no local trains to delay. Relaying wouldn't be an issue either, if you single tracked the G into Queens plaza and connected to peak direction trains. For example: during the AM rush the G terminates at the Manhattan bound plat to connect the A/E trains and during the PM rush it platforms at the Eastern Queens bound plat.

  10. Mind, I wasn't hoping for a tour in the near future, but in about 15-20 years, once it's had enough time to be 'forgotten' about by the general public. ;)

Yeh the thing it will probably never achievie that adandoned status, because of the shoddy work that condractors did at south ferry LL. In fact the TA keeps that station in pretty good condition so it can be put back in service if anything happens at the new south ferry.

  11. Well buses are like humans, if we need a check up we go to the doctor. If we feel sick we go to the doctor.

Can a bus feel love? Can it think about the day ahead while sitting on the crapper? Can it have sex? Some people may think otherwise with that last one, but a bus is not a man, and as such it shouldn't be compared to him.

  12. I like how the BxM18 is in here... It's actually increasing in terms of ridership and it's our baby out of our three express bus routes. I catch the last BxM18 sometimes in the mornings and I've noticed that it is almost completely full now, where as before you'd have a few empty seats. Going home it is also growing a bit. I expect to see that improve as the economy improves.

Do some of the PM runs of the BxM18 still have a light amount of passengers? When I junior in high school I remember coming home and seeing relatively empty BxM18s' heading towards Riverdale.

  13. Late night misadventures: I was waiting for my train at the 86th street station (on the IRT 7th avenue line) when these three drunk frat boy a**holes start pissing on the track and on the platform. If you haven't picked it up from my little story don't go to this station until the T/A cleaners clean this mess up.

Fast forward: When I finished my little trip I see this dude at the 23rd street station rolling up some weed, lighting it up, and smoking it right on the platform. I stood next to him for awhile; I might have gotten high.

    Gotta love the MTA.

  14. Do you even know what you're saying half the time?

So hypothetically, if the MTA wanted to cut the M31 so that it ran on York Avenue only and didn't do the 57th Street portion, Yorkville riders would be "lazy idiots" who should "STFU," as you put it?

You can't compare the M31 to the M104 for several reasons. Firstly the M104 and M31 serve two different sets of riders with different needs. Most of the people on the M31 are business type people looking to reach their job in midtown or connect with a north-south subway or bus. Most of the people using the M104 are people who wish to go to a location that is north of 57th street. 85% of the time there will be less then 10 people on the M104 south of 57th street. Secondly the M104's crosstown segment was useless, the M31 crosstown segment was not. People did not really use the M104 on it's crosstown segment on 42nd street. Durning rush hours their may be a crowded bus or two, but most of the ridership on the 42nd street corridor is sucked up by the M42 because it has higher headways. On the other hand the 57th street corridor does not have a high headway crosstown route so the M31 is needed to counteract the lackluster headways on 57th street bus routes. Finally the QT stated above the M104 is doing better as a route; buses are coming on time- something that never happened before.
