  1. Hard no with ditching the Q98 to extend the Q38. That's a Q38 problem and should be addressed on its own merits. The Q98 should not have to be sacrificed due to the shortcomings of another route. The problems I have with many of these types of proposals when they come up (whether it's via 63rd Drive/Penelope, via Eliot Ave or whatnot) are that they tend to significantly underestimate Grand Avenue ridership/ridership patterns, and overestimate Flushing-Ridgewood ridership. Sure the Flushing-Ridgewood ridership may be more interchangeable, issue is that it is not an overwhelming majority (let alone majority) of riders on the existing Q58 route. Grand Avenue is a major corridor and the different rider bases (Ridgewood, subway feeder, Corona , Flushing) all collectively make up a large chunk of Q58 ridership. That is followed by the usage in Corona. Seems like misplaced priorities to focus on what to do with a relatively minor group of riders (who would already see an improvement with the Q98). Plus with the way the Q38 goes through Middle Village, I don't think you would be saving that much time honestly. All you need is one parked car, delivery truck or whatnot and then any time savings goes out the window. The Q98 is an okay route in terms of making trips faster and providing necessary levels where demand is located. Penelope or Eliot Ave just don't come close to those levels, with Penelope being the lowest of the three. The real question is what other areas are residents in Middle Village and Rego Park seeking along the proposed Q38 route? For starters north/east of Queens Blvd I would not keep as part of the Q38, easily the weakest part of the route. Much of nobody is seeking the area west of Queens Blvd given its primarily residential. I think the 62nd Drive/63rd Road segment should be part of the Q59 since it would connect it to more commercial areas of interest / ridership generators in Queens. Having the Q38 running between Queens Blvd & Fresh Pond Road though would make it lightly used given that it's acting as a subway feeder for the most part. We've had discussions on what to do with the route, I think B35's proposal to send the thing to Williamsburg isn't a bad one honestly, I could also see potentially sending it through Bushwick potentially working as well (ultimately depends on the route). However I wouldn't bring the Q98 into this one.
  2. Part Suspended trains are severely disrupted in both directions while NYPD responds to an unauthorized person on the tracks between Bergen St and Jay St Service Changes: There is no service between Bedford-Nostrand Avs and Church Av. Church Av-bound trains will end at Bedford-Nostrand Avs. There is no service between 2 Av and 4 Av-9 St. Some trains are running via the line between Coney Island-Stillwell Av and W 4 St-Wash Sq. Some southbound trains will end at 2 Av. Northbound trains will end at Church Av or 4 Av-9 St. Northbound trains will end at Broadway Junction. Southbound trains will end at Chambers St. Expect delays in service while they share tracks with rerouted trains. See a station agent for a courtesy pass to continue on your trip. Listen for announcements to hear how your train will run. Travel Alternatives: Consider taking a or train for service between Manhattan and Brooklyn. For service between Broadway Junction and High St, take a B25 bus. For service between Williamsburg and Manhattan, take the B39 bus. Posted: 02/09/2024 06:15 PM
  3. I'm caught up in this mess. Also the gets to be included. Here we go.... Local to Express trains have major delays in both directions. Southbound EF trains are running local from Forest Hills-71 Av to Queens Plaza. While emergency teams are assisting someone who was struck by a train at Queens Plaza. Some northbound trains are running on the line from 42 St-Port Authority Bus Terminal to 168 St. Some northbound trains are terminating at 57 St. Some northbound trains are running on the line from 57 St-7 Av to 96 St. Some northbound trains are terminating at Times Sq-42 St and 57 St-7 Av. Posted: 02/02/2024 08:20 AM Some Reroutes There is limited service between Delancey St-Essex St and 57 St in both directions. Some 57 St-bound trains are running on the J line from Delancey St-Essex St to Chambers St, the last stop. Emergency teams are responding to a person who was struck by a train in Queens. Some trains are ending at 57 St, so we are rerouting trains to avoid congestion at that station. Posted: 02/02/2024 08:07 AM
  4. Sunday schedule does exist on those routes, and is not being changed.
  5. Apparently there was some study done with DCPT / LOOP and consulting firm Nelson/Nygaard to improve bus service, citing strong ridership increases in recent years. As a result, Dutchess County will roll out a restructured countywide system starting June 1st, 2024. It was initially proposed to take into effect March 30th, but it was pushed back to June 1st after public comments, in particular with the initial proposal that discontinued service to Red Hook, Bard College, and Tivoli in the north. The more noticeable route changes are in the City of Poughkeepsie, as most of the routes are centered there. The city network has been overhauled there which has also impacted several other county routes in the city. Outside of Poughkeepsie, the route structure has stayed the same, however there are some notable alignments in the Beacon area as well. Certain areas are losing all bus service. Below are the proposed changes, the schedules are listed here Route A: Poughkeepsie to Fishkill or Beacon Service boosted to provide hourly service all day Monday - Saturday: 6 AM - 10 PM to Dutchess Mall 7 AM - 11 PM to Poughkeepsie Evening service to/from Beacon discontinued, no alternate service provided Route B: Poughkeepsie to Beacon Service boosted to provide hourly service during daytime hours, Monday to Saturday: 5:30 AM - 7:30 PM to Beacon 6:30 AM - 8:30 PM to Poughkeepsie VA Medical Center stop will now be request only for all trips A later 10:10 PM trip from Beacon to Poughkeepsie will be added (Monday - Saturday) Route C: Poughkeepsie to Tivoli via US-9 or Violet Ave All service between Rhinebeck and Tivoli will be retained (initially proposed for discontinuation) Route streamlined to operate via US-9 between Poughkeepsie and Tivoli All service to Dutchess Community College and via Smith Street will be discontinued, use new Route N All service via Violet Avenue and West Dorsey Lane will be discontinued, no replacement will be provided Service will operate every 75-90 minutes during rush hours, instead of every 30 minutes over one interval, followed by 2+ hour waits Midday service will be reduced to approximately every 150-155 minutes (~2.5 hrs) vs. every 120 minutes (2 hrs) during middays Evening service will be boosted to operate every 2.5 hours vs ~ 3 hours Route D: Poughkeepsie to Millbrook and Wassaic Service between Millbrook and Wassaic will be discontinued (two round-trips during peak hours) Service between Poughkeepsie and Millbrook will be boosted to operate every 90 minutes, up from every 140-175 minutes: 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM to Millbrook 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM to Poughkeepsie The 8:00 PM evening trip will be discontinued, riders will need to board the 5:00 PM bus 3 hours earlier No alternatives outside the City of Poughkeepsie Within Poughkeepsie, riders need to take Routes E or L (which will be also cut during evenings) Route E: Poughkeepsie to LaGrange, Pawling and Wingdale via NY-55 and NY-22 Service between LaGrange and Pawling cut from 5 round-trips a day to 3 round-trips a day: The 8:29 AM and 2:00 PM trips from Poughkeepsie to Pawling will be discontinued The 11:05 AM and 3:14 PM trips from Pawling Chamber of Commerce will be discontinued All existing trips to Cousin's Cafe in Wingdale will be the only buses providing service east of LaGrange: 5:30 AM, 11:00 AM (64 min earlier vs. existing 12:04 PM), 5:10 PM from Poughkeepsie 7:10 AM, 12:30 PM (69 min earlier vs. existing 1:39 PM) , 6:35 PM from Wingdale Route F: Beacon to Hopewell Junction Service will be extended to serve Beacon MNRR Station Service between iPark in East Fishkill and Hopewell Junction will be discontinued, no alternatives Service will now operate to Amazon facility in New Fishkill, and serve more of iPark Service will now operate consistently every 2 hours throughout most of the day, Monday to Saturday: 8:15 AM - 6. Q31: I wouldn't have a route from Flushing do that either (go down Tremont Ave). Way I saw it, it would take Zerega to Westchester, then Waters Place (passing by Westchester Square along the way, no weird loops needed around that area. As far as the Bx24, I brought it up since we were discussing such a route (and given that it would mimic the Bx24, why not kill two birds with one stone?). Overall I do agree that dealing with the Bx24 overall is a Bronx issue, I do think it is worth discussing that as it specifically pertains to this proposal. There would be a notable overlap between Westchester Square and Hutchinson Metro Center between the two routes, and the Bx24 both runs infrequently and has very little through riding at Westchester Square. The rest of the Bx24 of course is another conversation, although I wouldn't hesitate to can the Bx24 out of there should a route like this come to fruition. Also, if not the 911 call center, where would those buses u-turn, near the Amazon facility? That's probably the only other place I see feasible (both operationally and in terms of coverage). Q38: True (to that last point)...lol. Also far as the B62 goes, the fact that's not even the worst part about the whole proposal is something else. Q18/Q67: Alright, so the Q18 would essentially be the bus that connects 69th Street in that area down to the . I guess I'm not too opposed with such a Q67 setup, when you mention it that way. One thing I will say though is that either the frequency of the Q18 would need to be boosted or there would need to be short-turns to/from 61st Street during parts of the day, because the waits on the branched sections (since you mention between Woodside Ave and the LIE) will add up. It would make the route straighter of course, but infrequent. On the flip side, my gripe with what's proposed for the Q18 is the elimination of 69th Street as if those stops don't account for a considerable chunk of ridership south of the . I guess can see why you would want to do that if you just looked at some map. Not saying that you're doing that; route-wise I'm okay with branching the Q18 like you suggested. It's just the brushing off of 69th Street ridership by the planners as if it's interchangeable and insignificant that annoys me. There tends to be long lines at 69th St & Garfield Ave in the AM for both the Q18 and Q47. The stop further down (69th & Maurice on the Q18) also sees good usage. Even if the proposed B57 makes less stops and takes less time to the , you're still being let off at a local stop (vs. 61st where you have the ). Right now the service is good because the has to run local, but when things go to normal, it will be noticeable. Don't even get me started with the future renovations at 69th that will start with closing the Manhattan-bound platform for months on end. Plus under the new proposal they have the Q67 running every 30 minutes during evenings and weekends, so it wouldn't be like the thing doesn't exist (specifically for subway access, that is). That area would have still had better coverage of service running at least every 30 or better during off-peak hours. Bringing it back to the Q67, if a route was to be extended that far east (along Metropolitan Ave), I would also try my hand at serving Yellowstone Blvd and terminating somewhere near 71st Ave Subway Station. That way it can cover Yellowstone and provide some coverage in that while leaving the Q23 alone in that area. The QM12 and QM42 aren't doing much of a service in that area anymore, unfortunately. In the PM especially, those things are close to empty (if not outright empty) once they cross Queens Boulevard from the north. So the route would do (once south of the LIE) 69th Street > Metropolitan Ave > 80th Street > Cooper Ave > Metropolitan Ave > Woodhaven Blvd > Yellowstone Blvd > Queens Blvd > 70th Road and terminate. At least that way it avoids 71st Avenue (which is the next block), and is by a subway entrance. I also wouldn't have it be an all local route to 71st Ave, but somewhat of a semi limited to LTD route east of 69th.
  7. From ABC7 CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn (WABC) -- A man was fatally shot inside a moving subway train in Brooklyn. Police say the 34-year-old was shot in the back and shoulder on Sunday just before 8:30 p.m. while he was on a Manhattan-bound 3 train approaching the Franklin Ave-Medgar Evers College Stop at Franklin Avenue and Eastern Parkway. The victim was taken to Kings County Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The suspect fled the scene. Police do not have a description of him at this time. "Everywhere you go some random terrible thing. We just have to learn to live with it, Would be nice if we had better gun control but that's going to take big shift in politics and that's not about to happen," said Professor Jeff Spinner-Halevim. The southbound 3 train was being held Sunday night at the Franklin Ave. stop in Crown Heights. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
  8. Someone was shot and killed onboard a train, this service change has been going on for several hours at this point: Multiple Changes Northbound trains are running on the express track from Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College to Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr. Northbound 24 trains will not stop at Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College. What's Happening? NYPD is conducting an investigation at Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College. For service to bypassed stations, transfer at Atlantic Av to a southbound train. For service from bypassed stations, take a southbound train to President St () or Nostrand Av () and transfer to a northbound train. At Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr, board northbound trains on the middle platform. Posted: 01/15/2024 12:31 AM
  9. Q31: The area around Westchester Square isn't exactly that close to ether the Q44 or Q50 (it's not insanely far, but it can be a hassle to get to either). Plus there's a bunch of route that hit he location going to other parts of the Bronx, so I don't see it necessarily being a waste. Plus if it serves HMC, it can replace the Bx24 (and then that could so something else past Westchester Square). Q36: I don't think I would have everything going up to Little Neck LIRR, so it would be a split between that and LIRR Floral Park. How the split depends on the frequencies provided for such a route, but I'm okay with the existing headways along Little Neck Parkway. Q38: Yeah I don't think anything should be terminating at Graham Ave either. I personally don't have too many problems with such an extension. Have you considered potentially sending it out to the Waterfront to replace the Q59? Perhaps ending it by North 6th Street near the ferry stop & parks or something. It would provide it with a more unique purpose and serve a little more of commercial Williamsburg in the process. With such a proposal though, I would trim the Q38 to end at Junction & Queens Boulevards with the Q72 (first stop would be the existing stop on 63rd Drive south of Queens Boulevard) it were to be extended that far, I think I would cut the Q38 on the eastern end and have it terminate at the Q72 stop at Junction & Queens Boulevards. The Q59 can take over the Q38s section out to 108th Street since it would be streamlined in Brooklyn. I think trading that whole tour it does through the waterfront and along Grand St/Metropolitan Ave in Williamsburg for 62nd Drive/63rd Road would still make the proposed Q59 a shorter and more reliable route than the existing one. Q67: I guess my one concern is that it doesn't hit the directly in that area. It comes close but it is a bit of a walk, and with the industrial ridership on weekdays + the schoolkids going to Christ The King and any subway commuters, it is used. However on weekends not as much because those three groups are very little (or non-existent). Not to say I don't disagree with an extension as Fresh Pond Road/Metropolitan is basically done due to available space in the area. IDK how the Q67 would get to Cooper/Myrtle under your proposal, but that one may hit the in some way or another I suppose. Q82: Regarding UBS Arena in particular, while I see your point regarding post-event ridership, the EB n1 and n6 UBS Arena stop on Hempstead Turnpike is walkable to the arena itself. Plus the fewer stops overall because of it being closed-door in Queens, and I think you could see some event goers gravitate towards that route in particular. Especially since the n6 local alone would be more frequent (add the n1 and n6X in the mix on weekdays, and it's no contest). Other than that, yeah I guess we'll just have to see how everything else turns out if the Q82 ends up being part of the final plan. I would think that it would since it was there since the very beginning, but you never know. The QM65 might be a stronger route I suppose with the elimination of the Atlantic Ticket. My question is, by how? As far as College Point goes, IDK exactly what the demand is there for College Point. However I don't believe it's large enough to have a dedicated route for it, especially given the extra mileage/runtime that would be incurred as a result of it. I see riders up there more content with taking Q25s and Q65s to the . The Horace Harding corridor as a better opportunity given the nearby density, demographics, and accessibility to get across the highway. I think it would be more useful if you use that to send QM10s/QM40s across the park and out towards Electchester or Fresh Meadows as a rush hour local variant of the QM5 (while having QM5/QM35s operate express after a certain point). Even greater benefit for QM5 riders, and the savings from any runtime decrease + frequency changes would be reallocated to the QM10/QM40. As far as using the Queens-Midtown Tunnel, as long as there is no PM LIE HOV lane in effect I would avoid routing more outbound buses down that way. Queens Boulevard is better flowing despite the chokepoints along the way. The LIE in Maspeth is terrible in the afternoon, and adding more buses down that route would subject to that traffic. There's also like one or two SX trips max on each of the QM routes. So if you were to go for something like that you would basically have to choose one of the two routes: Bay Terrace/Bayside/Whitestone Union Turnpike Quite frankly I don't see Hudson Yards being all that hot to have multiple routes running primarily dedicated to serving it, so if I had to pick and choose one, I would likely go with Union Turnpike since there are more options available to make it a worthwhile route, like possibly making stops along Queens Boulevard. The far eastern parts of Queens in that area would have the QM5, which if you add in the QM10/QM40 proposal I mentioned previously, would make the QM5 competitive or faster than the existing scheduled QM5 SX. I don't see nearly the same amount of opportunities with a route out of Bay Terrace. I also agree that the QM1/QM5/QM6 routes were pretty good in the previous proposal. The stops though needed some changes, and I am more or less onboard with @NewFlyer 230with the stop selections along Horace Harding. That is why make sure to express (no pun intended) this sentiment in any comments to the redesign team, elected officials as well at meetings. Also if you know anyone who takes those routes and would benefit from it, also let them know and tell them to share their thoughts as well. I actually think the previous routes were generally well received, however in an effort to please everyone (and no one at the same time), they basically undid everything. The routes now largely look the same, but there are reductions in frequency, so it's not the same (plus they insist on having the QM6 run non-stop west of 188th Street at all times, smh). I can understand frequency reductions if the new route's catchment area is smaller, but they're the same so what gives?? It's a slap punch in the face to an area which relies on express buses more than most other areas in the borough. Those headways aren't just some minor details, those matter too. @Lex beat me to it. Not only do I not see Little Neck residents mad at losing direct service to Jamaica LIRR, I don't see them taking issue if they lost all direct service to Jamaica (period). They'll still have it with the Q36 on weekdays but most people are not going to Jamaica on the thing. The problem there is that every single draft it's been something different proposed for Horace Harding and Little Neck in terms of east-west route and subway access: First Draft QT12 via Northern Blvd to/from Main Street QT34 via HHE/Winchester/Hillside to/from 179th Street QT87 via Jewel/73rd Ave/Springfield/HHE to/from 71st Avenue Second Draft Q45 via LNP & Hillside to/from 179th Street Q88 via HHE to/from Woodhaven Boulevard Third Draft (Current) Q36 via LNP/Jamaica Ave/Springfield Blvd/Hillside to/from 179th Street Q75 via HHE/188th/Union Turnpike to/from Briarwood ^^^Like, they need to make up their damn minds here. I generally agree with @NewFlyer 230 in opposition on it serving Briarwood (especially the way it does), however I'm not on board with that proposal because it still doesn't address a major issue created with this new draft, and that is the lack of a proper eastern Horace Harding route. The current Q30 hits most areas, however I do think there should be such a route headed out to Kissena Boulevard (since the Q30 misses the entire Pomonok area (which is very dense) and Queens College. The proposed Q75 is the worst of both worlds: it misses Utopia Parkway where you have all the schools (Francis Lewis HS, JHS 216, and even PS 73 further down) while serving a subway station which is hard to access from the street level due to the roadway configuration/geography in that area and still only has the during most commuting hours. I get that running along 73rd Avenue would more or less fill in a coverage gap, but I can't agree with it coming at the expense of a Horace Harding route like that. Plus with it running on 73rd Avenue in that fashion, you miss a lot of the commercial areas / ridership generators which are along Horace Harding. That is why I've never been in agreeance with a route running the full length of 73rd Avenue like that. Also, I think they had the right idea of having former 73rd Avenue routes head to 71st Avenue subway station for subway access. Union Turnpike has too much going on, and the Q64 could use the help. Like I mentioned previously, I would have the Q75 run along Horace Harding between Little Neck Parkway and Kissena Boulevard, down Kissena Boulevard to Jewel Ave, and via the Q64 to/from 71st Avenue subway station. The rush section would take place once it hits 188th Street like they proposed on the current Q75, with only the following stops: HHE / Utopia Pkwy HHE / 164th HHE/ Parsons Blvd Kissena Blvd/HHE Jewel Ave/Kissena Blvd Jewel Ave/Main St Jewel Ave/Park Dr E. (for Park Access) 71st Avenue About the same mileage and runtime given that it doesn't have to backtrack so far south as it does to get to Briarwood. That and the fact that the travel time on the subway would be less. I also didn't have a problem with running the Q12 down there in some form, I do think there's some demand for areas along Northern Boulevard and Flushing.
  10. It's not necessarily about direct access from (parts of) Forest Hills, but also from Corona further away from Roosevelt. I'm opposed to any proposal that would have the Q23 avoid serving Corona Plaza. It would be a detriment, both for riders seeking the intermediate area and those looking for subway access. The walking distance from 108th Street is nothing to overlook, it might not as egregious as some of the other changes but you would end up killing ridership because most people wouldn't want to deal with that on a daily basis. The way the Q23 gets into Corona Plaza should be changed, there's no need to have it take 43rd to National headed north, that is unnecessary and adds up additional mileage just to sit in traffic most of the time. The thing should take 108th to Roosevelt, then up 103rd (SB buses would come down 104th). Yeah Roosevelt isn't easy in that area either but it would be smoother than what it currently puts up with. Even with the fact that I'm not sure how a Q47/Q49 merge would work, I would keep the Q49 alone, route-wise it does a decent job trying to hit most of the residential areas in the respective areas who want 74th Street. It needs to be kept alone. Also, even though the route is short it seems that the route is horrendous nowadays in terms of reliability. Buses bunching in twos and threes, no matter the time of day. The headways become utter crap because of the bunching in the reverse-peak direction because it isn't as frequent. The Q33 is in a similar boat to the Q49, good ridership and short route but can be fairly unreliable, the difference is that the Q33 runs through more of commercial Jackson Heights and Roosevelt Avenue. Don't know what the end game is with this proposal in particular tbh. As far as the Q72, so what happens to the Q29 (above Woodhaven)? Riders headed north of Queens Boulevard on the Q29 aren't seeking Corona, so the Q72 wouldn't come at a benefit. Plus, the amount of traffic it would have to contend on its route, from LGA to the area around LeFrak, QCM, and along Woodhaven Boulevard. Even if you were to cut such a route from LGA it would still be plagued by a lot of chokepoints (with little benefit to existing riders). I don't know where your cut off for "northern section of the B53" is but AFAIC, some potential combo I could see working to some extent. I would consider combining the Greenpoint Ave leg of the proposed B53 with the 48th Street portion of the Q104 and extending/rerouting to Northern Blvd station on its eastern end & Nassau Avenue on its Western End. The other thing I could see doing is combining the Greenpoint section of the proposed B53 + most of the proposed Q68 east of 48th Street + either the Q47 north of Roosevelt Avenue or heading straight across Roosevelt Avenue to somewhere in Corona (the latter for the sake of avoiding layover issues in Jackson Heights with adding a Roosevelt Avenue east route). The existing B32 should be retained for the most part, not be morphed into the abomination that is the B53, I have given several potential ways to do so in this post (see Q101/Q103/Q105 comments). Not to mention the shit ton of buses that would now be competing for layover space, somewhere in Downtown Flushing. You'd take more time trying to lay over than by switching operators over there at 39th Avenue. Downtown Flushing is pretty saturated during the day, I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that having that many more BPH running through, turning, and taking up space overall would paralyze traffic (which BTW does happen right now). So yeah, I agree that Flushing isn't an ideal spot to break up the route. Contrary to what you might believe, artic buses tend to have smaller turning radius than standard-size buses. While the bus is longer, it's not as rigid due to the articulated section. It basically cuts the bus and half and adds a flexible/bendable portion that otherwise doesn't exist with 40-footers. Meaning that it'll be able to take turns easier. Depending on the dimensions and the model, turning radius would likely fall somewhere between that of its 30 foot and 40 foot counterpart. Also, Far Rockaway to Sheepshead Bay is crazy, lol. That and the seemingly abrupt way it you brought that route up made it seem like you just wanted to bring up a Sheepshead Bay proposal for the sake of it. I think others said what needed to be said, so I don't have much else to add there.
  11. Part Suspended There is no train service between Chambers St and Broad St. The last stop on Broad St-bound trains is Chambers St. What's Happening? We investigated a report of an unauthorized person on the tracks and are now requesting EMS assistance for them at Fulton St. For service between Chambers St and Broad St, consider nearby trains. 12. Yeah, forgot to include "express" --------- From what it sounds like, there will be service running all night between Times Square and Atlantic Ave - Barclays Center (due to the lack of service). Makes sense, although IDK how the headways will look like.
  13. As a result of the potential delays on other lines due to the suspension, there are some changes on other lines: Some trains are running local north of 59th Street - Columbus Circle in both directions. All service in The Bronx is temporarily suspended. Metro North is cross honoring on the Harlem Line within NYC, and the Hudson Line between Marble Hill and Grand Central.
  14. QBL meltdown just in time: Multiple Changes trains are running with severe delays in both directions. Most northbound trains are rerouted from Bergen St to Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av. What's Happening? We're addressing a signal problem near Court Sq-23 St. Updates: Rerouted northbound trains are running on the line from Bergen St to Court Sq, then via the line to Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av. These trains are rerouted to alleviate track congestion along Queens Blvd. Expect delays while trains share tracks. Alternatives: For service between Manhattan and Queens, consider taking trains or a Q17 bus. For service between Manhattan and Brooklyn, consider taking a train. Posted: 01/04/2024 08:08 PM
  15. Metro North is cross honoring between Marble Hil and Grand Central. IMO it should have also included at least Spuyten Duyvil, but that's a start.
  16. It's an oddball trip/service pattern at this point. Initially JSQ was served by the 67B, 67X, and those 319 JSQ trips, with some shoulder and evening service on the 67 (at one point some buses came from Weehawken). At that time, it was more useful for commuters. They cut the 67B from there after COVID (which was later eliminated), then the 67X was cut last January, and now you're down to the one evening 67 trip and those 319 trips. Not remotely useful anymore for any central/southern Jersey commuters. Nobody going to AC in their right mind would take that trip either. It was just never cut by NJT until now.
  17. Multiple Changes trains are severely disrupted in both directions due to multiple incidents in the Bronx. What's happening? NYPD is conducting an investigation at 161 St-Yankee Stadium and 182-183 Sts. trains are bypassing 161 St-Yankee Stadium in both directions. trains are bypassing 182-183 Sts in both directions. Northbound trains are running on the express track from 167 St to Tremont Av. For service to/from 161 St-Yankee Stadium, take a train. For service to/from 182-183 Sts, take the Bx1 or Bx2 bus. Posted: 01/01/2024 10:14 PM Delays Northbound trains are delayed while we remove a train with a car in need of cleaning from service at Tremont Av. Posted: 01/01/2024 09:58 PM
  18. Part Suspended There are no trains between Manhattan and Queens while emergency teams respond to a person who was struck by a train near Lexington Av/53 St. The last stop on southbound trains is Court Sq-23 St. The last stop on northbound trains is 47-50 Sts-Rockefeller Ctr. Northbound trains are running on the line from 42 St-Port Authority Bus Terminal to 145 St, where they will turn for southbound service. As an alternative for service between Manhattan and Queens, take trains instead. Posted: 12/31/2023 03:13 AM
  19. Could that also be due to the fact that its the only interborough link to Queens in that part of the city? In other words, how much of the M60 ridership crossing into Manhattan, is looking for areas of The Bronx, and Manhattan that are not Harlem or connected by the M60. With the former I'd claim that there's a sizable chunk (not the main driver of ridership, but sufficient enough) doing that, having a separate Bronx-Queens link would alleviate some of the strain off the M60. I wouldn't involve the M35 with it because for starters, it would be most useful for East Harlem - Astoria riders in particular. However even within that group of people the M35 would take longer than the M60 to even be considered as a worthwhile option. That's also without bringing up that anyone that isn't remotely aware of the M35's ridership will find out real quick that it isn't anything they want to deal with on a regular basis.
  20. The holiday train got taken out of service at Rockefeller Center due to some mechanical issue not too long ago. Also the R7A led the set going uptown too. Unknown if the issue will be fixed to make some final trips, but if not then that's a wrap for the Holiday train lol. It is what it is.
  21. How much are they really saving by having n54 buses run every two hours like that on Saturdays? They should have ran it every hour like they seem to do in the early AM and the PM. That's also the other thing, why do they seem to be operating some of these routes with little to no service outside the usual (weekday) rush hours? Weekend ridership is very different, and it isn't like these routes are serving any major industrial areas where I could see such a schedule potentially being useful. Same thing goes to the n78/n79. When they severely trimmed headways or stop running them, is precisely when they should be running. Cool that they fixed up the transfer to the n71 at Amityville, however should be providing that transfer on weekdays too. Hopefully they fix that sooner rather than later.
  22. Bee Line will be providing certain shuttles in the Yonkers, New Rochelle, White Plains areas. 23. It's being done across the city, including MTABC routes. If the route has a local variant running at the same time, then it is likely not running this week (there are certain exceptions). This week has lower ridership than normal as many people call out or take vacations of some sort. They just don't publish the schedules like they do for the express buses.
  24. This is the fourth time in four days now I believe, that train service has been suspended due to people being struck by trains. Earlier this week people were struck at Bushwick Ave, Atlantic Ave(?) , and East 105th Street. Part Suspended There is no train service between Atlantic Av and Lorimer St in both directions. Emergency teams are responding to a person who was struck by a train at Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs. The last stop on Canarsie-Rockaway Pkwy-bound trains will be Lorimer St. The last stop on 8 Av-bound trains will be Atlantic Av. As an alternative for service consider using nearby (A‌) trains. Posted: 12/24/2023 03:49 PM
