  1. So where are those green resumes and 15mph signs? Got lines and station markers, or even round about locations? I’ve never seen a green resume with a speed sign yet. Been here 6 years and not once. I love to continue learning. Do you still work down here? I looked through the last seniority list and couldn’t find your name. Remember that list was restablished in 2015. I’m friends with a couple guys from the 1st class of the 8098 exam as well. I came in Jan of 13
  2. Dude, where in the world would you ever see that conflicting situation? Been on the road all over and I have never witnessed that scenario. Is this what they are telling folks in school car now? That conflicting fixed signals will be right next to each other? If so, we’re doomed🤦‍♂️😂
  3. 👋 I am a train operator, I’m pretty well versed in who’s in charge of what. That being said, that bulletin wasn’t directed at RTO. If you read it, it explains essential positions are exempt. RTO IS ESSENTIAL 🤦‍♂️. My point, 🤷‍♂️. Just saying there’s no freeze for RTO. There will be classes and you will be called. Relax, it’s all coming around. I’m only on here to watch for my wife’s cousin being called and possibly give some insight. I’m just gonna watch from this point on. Y’all seem to have it under control 🤦‍♂️. Good luck😉
  4. Don’t believe it. Or do what you want. Ms Vargas ain’t school car. She does what she’s told. Like I said, I spoke with a superintendent in school car. But again, what do I know.
  5. We have a ton of people retiring this year. The new contract is making folks wonder what they might lose. So people will be out before May in droves. Don’t worry, they need folks badly. You’ll get here. Good luck!
  6. More than likely it was the amount of school car TSS’s available and timing. That’s probably why they made two classes in January. The April thing is up in the air from what I was told, but it looks like they are skipping it. But hey, what do I know😉😂🤷‍♂️
  7. It’s not a rumor. I was at PS248 Thursday and Friday and that’s from a superintendent 🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️.
  8. Spoke with someone credible at School Car yesterday and they are skipping Feb, having a class in March, skipping April and having a class in May. April thing he wasn’t 100% on, but that’s the word on the street so far. Good luck folks.
  9. Just read a notice of an immediate hiring freeze. Tried to copy and post, but I can’t figure out how. All nonessential OC and Promotional hiring is here by frozen until further notice. “Represented operational positions that are essential to the provision of safe and reliable transportation services to our customers are excluded from this hiring freeze....”
  10. That’s not how School car is. You aren’t behind a lever all day. You aren’t even behind a lever😂. But regardless, you’ll have about an hour for lunch. Technically they only have to give you 30mins. Usually it’s closer to an hour. Not always though.
  11. Brother, they won’t hold on that long. Get ready for a Dec class with that info. At the latest Jan. It definitely won’t be May.
  12. Your list number is 156*? They are that high into the list? I thought I was reading 116*. My wife’s cousin is waiting and he’s around the same.
  13. Rookies can’t choose to be in the yard, that’s a super senior job, or medical restriction gets you there. XL couldland you a yard job sometimes, XX could as well, but your more inclined to the road so you can learn more. You post yards and then become YX(not sure if they are using this term anymore), but basically you are learning the yard with, preferably seasoned train operator. Doesn’t always happen though. I’ve seen guys still on probation that have gotten a yard job for the day and they are working with YX. It’s mind numbing to be honest. After 3 months( when I was YX 5 years ago, we were the second class to be YX), you go back to school car and finish with that. Then you road post. After all is said and done and all finals and practicals are passed, you are thrown to the wolves. It’s such an awesome feeling😉😂😂😂
  14. No offense, but you have no clue what this job is about until you’ve worked the job. Just cause you have family down here doesn’t mean they know what they are doing. I’ve met plenty of TD’s and TSS’s that think they know what’s what and then they get a hard check and have no clue. You get a wrong lineup and think you know you are going to one place and they’ve changed it all together, which they can do and you will be writing. Not asking questions have gotten many people platform and termination. Just a suggestion, don’t run with that I know what the job entails and what’s expected of us into school car or even on the road. New jacks like that get the cold shoulder and folks would rather walk away then hear, oh I know that cause my this or that. Don’t take this as an insult by any means. This is just a heads up. Working on 6 years here and this job changes everyday. Not my job itself, but the whole damn thing. Get used to asking questions, cause we all didn’t know shit when we were thrown to the wolves. School car doesn’t end, we are always learning and the only way we learn is to ask questions. Good luck, brother. I hope to see you down the road soon.
  15. Nope, people are retiring on a regular basis and in bunches. As for the list and such being finished when they told folks it would be, welcome to Transit. Things get done when they get done down here. They are constantly calling for OT and they started a new class of TSS’s, so that’s more room. It’s just the transit way. Stay patient and by all means get in when and however you can. It’ll come along, slowly and surely. Oct will be a big retiring boom, people want to get there 5weeks vacation and leave off that. It’s moving along and you’ll be down here before you know it.
  16. Yeah, not for nothing I’d go down there. Sounds like somebody dropped the ball. No quotas from what I experienced. Been a Motor for five, almost 6 years now.
  17. Those being promoted could have come from the OC as well. From what I’ve heard, they are pretty much going down the line as if the list was established. Word is they agreed with the union to establish the list mid month, meaning July.
  18. I know the bulletin and the revised bulletin, I also know that T/O’s have Been denied bringing steel toe boots/shoes. It’s composite toe or nothing. Are you a T/O? And the previous company didn’t offer steel toe to us. I haven’t been here long, but I’ve been through two companies, to include the store front and not one of the Boots/shoes we were offered were Steele toe. I’ve been a T/O for only 5 years and change.
  19. ASTM- F2413, 175/C75, EH, impact and compression. That’s the protective toe requirements. Now I don’t know about you, but I don’t think a Steele toe is not EH compliant!
  20. That was rescinded like three months ago! Dr’s lines are completely needed starting in Oct 2018! And if you think steel toe boots/shoes are allowed have fun with that. There is a certain spec followed here. Not sure if you work for transit or what, but by no means are steel toe allowed to be worn as a T/O.
