  1. I've been tinkering with my phone (I am an android tech fanatic) and I've got it rooted, running a custom ROM and I even changed the font to a Pokemon font I found online.. (Talk about blast from the past!)..

This is what I do at 1am during the summer...  :P   :)

    9251433095_fce87fe143_o.jpg

  2. a.) That's a really long route.. That may cause the route to be EXTREMELY unreliable, ESPECIALLY running it on Woodhaven and Broadway. (Have you seen the traffic on Woodhaven?)

b.) Is the ridership there for Cooper/Central Avs? I've been in the area, and I'm not too keen on the idea. (Not many people use buses in that area anyways, have you been to Atlas Park Mall? Not many people come off the 54 over there, not many take the 47 and 29 from there either... its a dead mall....)

c.) other than the fact that it serves Cooper Ave, it is basically mirroring a whole bunch of routes... Half of the route is the Q53....

d.) The B'way stretch of the Q104 doesn't get a whole lot of riders, every time I ride the 104 it is only SRO (and that's with 20/30 min headways iirc)

The whole idea to me is redundant and very long

If riders in the area want QCM, they can take the Q58 or Q53

If riders in the area want LIC, they can take the Q39

  3. The line often stretches halfway down that block for the Q110 (which is like a Manhattan avenue block, so do the math...)

I actually prefer the (E) over the (F), because the stations are nicer (and by that they don't smell like human waste all the time, as opposed to 169th and 179th) and there's a bit more to do around the (E) than the (F). Plus, the (E) has Tim Horton's.

Canadian donuts are a plot to take over the world but they're really good.

LOL by nice stations I hope you don't mean Jamaica Center...... Jamaica Center is one of the dirtiest stations that I've been too in the system, especially the bathrooms! YUCK!

  4. Why does the Q110 stop at 179 ? Does it even have any stops a between 179Pl, Hillside Ave and Jamaica Ave. I always thought that little branch should be eliminated because its last stop is the (F) train station anyway and down on Parsons and Jamaica you can get the (E) and the (J).

I've seen quite a few people get on the Q110 @ 179 on those rush hour trips..... It ain't like they're empty.

And not everyone wants to deal with that ratchet (E) train lol... Now since I'll be taking the N6x everyday from LI, I'm not taking that (E) anymore, the (F) is my new friend

  5. I never understood why the Q40 went to Hillside Ave anyway, I think it's a waste. As for the Q111/113 Jamaica Center should only be a short turn for the Q111 as the Q113 runs every 10 minutes including LTD and local service. There is a lot of people who board the Q111/Q113 at Hillside Parsons Station. The Q110 doesn't get a whole lot of people there and the Q112 it depends on the day. Sometimes when I board it at 2PM on Saturday 2 to 5 more people board it and something only one person or just myself alone is on. The Q25/Q34 and Q65 should start on Jamaica Parsons and most of the people get on and get off there. Most of the buses crowd there anyway. Some people get on at Archer Ave and 150st and LIRR Airtrain Station. I personally like getting on there so I can have myself a seat anywhere I like because on Parsons the buses usually leave crowded unless there are two buses together.

    - I never understood the Q40 going to Hillside Ave either, but it was probably to reduce crowding at 165 (methinks, notice how all the other JFK routes go there..)

    - The 113 LTDs and locals do run 10 min headways, but somehow they still bunch up (I live along the route AND get on at Jamaica.., I notice this all too often)

    - The Q112 doesn't get much ridership in general LOL... its the red-headed stepchild of BP Depot, even having 30 min headways at 8pm on a weekday...

    - The Q110 REALLY picks up at that stop by Old Navy on Jamaica Ave... that route actually REALLY picks up.

    - Nah sending those 25s/34s/65s to Sutphin is fine.... sure it is empty, but it'll alleviate crowding in the Jamaica Ctr area.. (3 less routes terminating there..)

  6. I am aware of this.

I generally sympathise with some who relate this to me as many are genuine.

But it upsets me where some use this as an excuse to continue to entertain their failures fail as my black adopted father explained to me, those who use this as a shaming tactic. And I am not even getting into the beggars on the street or in the subway system.

Many kids who sell candy in particular who are begging in desperation or sell candy to make ends meet because they come from poor families and struggling are genuine unless it's their parents that are forcing them to do this cutting a profit taking advantage of their own children. Full grown men and women who refuse to get their shit together is another story. This is NYC and it is a cold and harsh environment socioeconomically. It can get deep with the complications of it. because now the racist stereotypes of black men as under achievers come in which makes it hard for many successful Afro-Americans. According to stats there are more Afro-Americans that are successful and middle or upper middle class then the racist machine of this country fabricated from the descendants of the slave owners in America wants us to be (*typo: believe) (the KKK, etc who still exist through fronts such as the Knights of Columbus)

I hope I didn't touch a nerve but I had to speak my mind as the member with the alternative opinion on American life. and the perils of racial dynamics, stereotypes and hate If I got this wrong, please feel free to give me added insight and break it down for my knowledge. I just wanted to speak my mind in response to this issue concerning beggars and scammers in the MTA transit system.

People use that as an excuse to not only entertain their failures but also to attract sympathy and manipulate...

Many of these kids who sell candy, come off to me, as not needing the money... Heck half the kids I see selling candy are wearing $300 Jordans or have an iPhone...

While on the topic of this, I notice many kids in SE Queens (and probably around the rest of the city) always getting on the buses and claiming they have no fare, but they're wearing expensive sneakers, a snapback and have an expensive phone... SMH these are the type of kids I hate and one of the reasons why I feel like I was brought up in the wrong generation....

    On the racial note...

many Afro-Americans have been successful over the years, agreeing with your statistic...

Heck my family is full of doctors, firefighters, lawyers who own nice houses (and I have a cousin who works for the Brooklyn Nets too), when back then in the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s, they were all poor and just making ends meet...

I hope to follow suit as I want to be a doctor.

    On another note...

its 6am, I pulled an all nighter and am now eating red velvet cake (great breakfast huh?)  :D

My sleeping patterns are completely f***** up!

  7. 1. 42 to 83 (free xfer) for (F). Work on the operation hours of the 42.

    2. Short turn Q111 and Q113 locals. Rosedale Q111 and Q113 LTD will run full route.......

I actually think the Q111/Q113s short turning @ Jamaica Ctr is a great idea!

    Now about the other one..

I don't think the Q42 should be extended..

The Q42 doesn't run enough nor have enough ridership (IMO) to warrant an extension. (I didn't 100% agree with all day service returning on the route in the first place..)

I always see Q42s come into Jamaica Ctr not even SRO (same as exiting Jamaica Ctr)... The buses most likely would run up to Sutphin empty.. which isn't very cost efficient...

I don't think the Q84 should be extended either for the ridership issue either.. (That route does get riders in the rush hours, but outside of those times, the route itself is not even SRO, everytime I've ridden it, or seen it on Merrick, it was practically empty...)

As for the Q83,The Q83s will come into Jamaica Ctr even more packed than they are now.. BUT the route does have the frequencies to support this (IMO). It is better to extend a higher ridership route, than a lower ridership route (again, IMO)

If a route HAD to be extended to Sutphin on the (F) (which I don't think is a high enough ridership subway station, nor a high trafficking terminal in the first place...) it would have to be a high ridership route, like the Q5, Q85, Q83 or Q4.

A good example to support this, the Q40 (which terminates at Sutphin on the F).

I've seen this route numerous times and have observed the ridership patterns, not as many people get on at Sutphin/Hillside, as compared to Sutphin/Archer.. mainly because Sutphin/Archer is a higher ridership/trafficking station...

  8. The one good thing about the Q9 is IF it was extended to JFK, it would be a cheaper alternative to get to the Jamaica area than AirTrain but not everyone wants cost over convenience and speed... also, is the demand there? That's why I would be hesitant over sending it to T5, ALSO because the Q10 is already in the area..

  9. After talking in the chat room I have been thinking about something...

You all know those people who try to sell candy for a "basketball team" or to "Help them out" or those people who try to sell CDs...

There was one incident where I was in Union Square with my 3 cousins 2 summers ago and this kid came up to us wanting us to buy some candy from him.. (Airheads, etc... Stuff that wasn't worth a dollar)

I told the kid that I had no money (I really didn't..) and he said "C'mon help a brotha out! We're the same color" (That struck a nerve in me..)

So I said "We aren't "brothas", I am educated unlike you, I am doing something positive with my life, while you're here collecting money from people with these candy scams"

Of course the kid didn't react nicely and called me a "faggot" and a "traitor"..

But yeah when I see kids trying to do that, It makes me mad... Then when they say "Its for the kids", when they aren't fooling me (I know they just try to make a personal profit"...

I mean I grew up in the projects around violence and stuff, but unlike most of these kids, I chose to educate myself instead of hang out with the wrong people and try to scam people for personal benefit....

  10. The AirTrain is not irrelevant to the discussion for the very reason you posted here - you'd rather take that then a $5 ride from Jamaica. This will only siphon riders away from a service that was built expressly for the very purpose of transporting unsuspecting tourists. Plus, you end up with a Q33-like situation where you end up overcrowding a route with airport passengers, requiring very expensive increases in frequency and inconveniencing those who are using the bus to get to their homes, and not the airport.

A Q9 to the airport is not going to get all its airport bound passengers from the surrounding neighborhood, which is what you're trying to imply. Airport routes only have two stable sources of ridership - business travelers and airport employees. (People on vacation are more likely to use a cab, since it's faster and cheaper the more people you're traveling with. They also fluctuate widely in numbers.) Since Southeast Queens isn't exactly a business mecca, you presumably want to target employees, who are probably provided transit passes on AirTrain and employer provided parking (I could be wrong.)

If you want a cheap ride from the subway to the airport, you can take the Q10.

Actually I've seen loads of Airport employees in SE Queens take the Q3....

A lot of them live on the Q85 and I've seen them transfer between the two a lot..

Could be for convenience reasons of course...

  11. 1. How about the Q113 become limited along Guy Brewer? Q111 for local service.........

    Or

    2. Short turn Q111 and Q113 locals terminate at Parsons-Archer during the day?

    3. How about swapping the Q83 and Q84 spots at Parsons-Archer? All the Merrick Blvd routes would be in one location.

    4. How about the Rosedale bound Q111 actually stop at the Q111 stop at Parsons-Archer? Or extend the bus stop further.....

    Comments, discuss, criticize....

I agree with the short turning of the 111s/113s...

A LOT of people actually get on at Parsons on the (F) ...

then you have a bunch of people getting on at Jamaica Ctr...

May I also note, there is a bit of bus traffic at Parsons/Hillside, so short turning the 111s/113s MAY alleviate that a little bit.

  12. Why are you moving?  I loved life out here until I had to try to get a driver's license and the outcome of that was so godawful...

And thank you again, Failed-vision, for making me lag out of every last game online.  300 ms of ping at the least, even simple sites like buschat are taking at least 10 seconds to load.  Nothing is on, my torrent finished in the afternoon, and even with my sister and parents on their devices I can still play games online with barely any issues.  So what the hell is the cause this time?

I'm moving because of renting issues in my current house. I'm not gonna be in Nassau for long, as hopefully, I'm gonna get into a SUNY school (preferably Stony Brook) and go live on campus for fall 2014.

  13. The food court got removed sometime in either 2007 or 2008 to make room for the JC Penney (which occupies both lower level floors now) that opened its doors in sometime in 2009...

The food court used to be way up on the 7th floor, but since the mall got condensed to 4 or 5 floors (including the 2 lower levels), that's when the food court got moved down to the basement... That was the beginning of the end of the mall (in terms of popularity) - I mean ppl. still go there, but you see more people shopping at other stores in the vicinity of manhattan mall than inside it....

I remember when this happened. A LOT of people stopped going to Manhattan Mall. In fact, I find it rather boring myself and haven't even been there since I moved out of Manhattan last year. That place is soo boring!

can you still acess the subway from the mall and when you enter your close to the front of the 6th ave line correct?

There is an entrance by the front of the mall, iirc.

  14. When I got my score report, I just saw the scores for the 3 parts (reading, math, critical writing), but I didn't bother to check my essay score. I rechecked after reading those posts and found out got a 10/12 on that. (They actually scanned it so I could see what I wrote when I checked my grade).

IIRC, the AP score reports were a lot less generous with the information they gave out. All I saw was what score I got on a scale of 1-5, but unlike the SAT, they didn't break it down in terms of your raw score, and what percentile you got and all that.

This is the first year that they're not mailing out score reports for the AP exams, so we'll have to check it online. But the stupid thing is I can't figure out a way to access scores from previous years.

Yeah, I think it is better to get them online, too bad they don't finish them until July :( I wanna know what I got in AP Psych !

  15. Let me get my paperwork together......

As get myself going and have my coffee. Just woke up, hence the jumbled up post. I was having a crazy dream last related to this really serious problem. She was telling me I was muttering in my sleep. Bugging out here....

Sup bro. Nice to hear from you in chat last night. Yeah it's gotten better in many ways until my insane rage of a post but life can become hectic. Prolly shouldn't have posted this to interupt the flow but damn I'm pissed ......

Nice to hear from you too, im slowly coming back on here and its great to be back! Its alright, its good to vent sometimes, y'know? Its healthy. Its rather unhealthy to instead bottle them frustrations up and not let them out

I feel you pain realizm, damn, that sounds even worse than my situation. The guy next door is an a**hole, but I don't think I've ever heard him I silting me like that. If you do sue, I hope you win. One less scum out there to ruin lives...

You still have problems with that neighbor Phil? You should do something about it, like report him to the authorities or something. Sorry that he still bothers you man.
