  1. Q69 - replaces the Q19, and provides more frequent service on Astoria Blvd to QBP, Queens Plaza, and Court Square.

Q104 - replaces the winding Q102 route, and links Roosevelt Island to Astoria, Sunnyside, Maspeth, Ridgewood, with connections at Broadway (N)(Q), 46th St (M)(R), 46th St (7), and Forest Av (M).

Q18 - replaces the Q67, and provides a link between Astoria, Woodside, and Middle Village, providing connections at 30th Av (N)(Q), Elmhurst (M)(R), Woodside (7) LIRR, and Middle Village (M).

Q39 - replaces the Q67, Q47, and Q38's Penelope Av leg, providing a link between LIC, Sunnyside, Elmhurst, Middle Village, Rego Park, and Corona. Links to QBP, Queens Plaza, Court Square, and 63rd Dr - Rego Park (M)(R).

Q38 - shortened, and runs on Elliot Av and Fresh Pond Rd from Woodhaven Blvd (M)(R) to Fresh Pond Rd (M).

Q102 and Q67 service would be ended, because they largely run with or very close to the Q103, the Q39, and the (N)(Q), and because parts of their routes would be merged into other routes.

A lot of the existing services in Western and Southern Queens (defined here as bounded by the Brooklyn-Queens border, the East River, BQE, Queens Blvd, and Woodhaven Blvd) are infrequent and run as closely as two blocks together in some areas. Bus routes would be consolidated to reduce duplication, and the buses/money freed up by this consolidation could be used to run more frequent services on the remaining routes. Plus, it provides better connectivity, thus providing ridership potential, and most importantly, it's a lot easier to read on a map.

I'm not too keen on these ideas.

Do you travel in these areas or are familiar with LGA routes?? And I mean not looking at a map, I mean RIDING them.

You want the Q19 AND Q69 to go to Flushing?? or you want the Q19 discontinued??? Extending the Q69 to Flushing has the potential to make it more unreliable than it already is!

I agree with B35, no one from Ridgewood is going to hop off at 46th St (7) for a bus, when they can go to Court Sq or QBP. Also that Q104 idea, its a long route. That will also make it unreliable

What I see this as, you are trying to extend routes to replace other routes that DON'T need to be replaced.

You have the intention to fix service, which is fine, but do it the right way.

Go ride some of these LGA routes please! lol

  2. Had a scumbag MTA moment today...

Since yesterday was Thursday, I usually get off the (G) at greenpoint and refill my metrocard from there since it expires that night (I buy it where it expires on payday lol). I look at the machines and all 3 of them weren't taking debit cards. I shrugged it off and I would assume they would fix it by the time I get off work

    ...fast forward to this morning.

Normally I take the bus home from work since I'm not that much of a rush to get home. I go back down to the train station and ask 3 machines are still messed up. At that moment I was getting pissed off since that meant that I had to run back upstairs to my job and use their ATM machine since they don't take the fee off my card. I do all that and I end up missing the B43. I went back down to the train station and (finally) got my metrocard for the week, and I end up missing the B62. I waited back in the store for the next bus (good thing its right in front of the bus stop), and another B43 came.

Fast forward again to right now...I get off the B43 and walk to the B15 and I get the bus I despise the most...another Xcelsior.

At least this thing has good heat

I'm still working on kicking that habit...I'm down to a pack a week

Ah so I see you have been cutting down, im proud! Next time I see you I'll have a gift for you! :D

  3. You know, that reminds me of a time when I got off the S46 with another kid, and I'm walking relatively slowly, and the kid is fast-walking and gets ahead of me. The kid keeps turning his head back to look at me every 3 seconds (and he's being pretty obvious with it too, not just a quick glance, but basically turning his head completely around). I'm like, c'mon, man. <_< We're the only ones here, and I don't look particularly intimidating. I mean, I know you should always be aware of your surroundings, but that was just plain ridiculous.

On a side note, I just realized that I don't really hear girls getting catcalled too often. Friday evening, I got back from fanning, and there were 2 girls waiting for the S48 at Forest & South. The guy who got off the S90 with me shouts out "Pick it up!", at one of the girls, and then grins at her. I just realized it was the first time I heard a catcall in a while.

That reminds me, I was on the Q85 going home friday night after hanging out with a B/O friend, and these two girls were in the back of the bus and these three guys. The guys started hollering at them and one went over and was like asking one of the girls "What's your name?" and all that other isht. She curved him HARD! it was like he didn't exist. It was pretty funny I must say

  4. Are your girls disposable or something. I would think one night stands would be in your best interest, but what do I know?

Actually, been in three relationships this year. My most active year (if you catch my drift).

    Nope.

    1st GF - transferred schools

2nd GF- mutual breakup due to a personal event that happened to her

3rd GF - going strong so far.

Lol I'm only 17, so it isn't as bad as it could be..

Yeah I catch your drift! LMAO

  5. Got a year with my girlfriend as of today! (Actually, yesterday, I don't know why the post didn't go through then)

Also, a few days ago, I was at a friends house (friend A) with another friend (friend B), and Friend A is talking on the phone with her grandmother, and Friend B shouts into the phone VOOOODDDDDDKKKKKAAA! Needless to say, her grandmother was not amused. (BTW, we weren't actually doing anything like that)

Congrats! I'm in my 3rd relationship in 2 months.. lolol

I see the problems that arose in the situation.

Anyway, you'd think your homeboys would notify you with something like that.

If you knew these guys in person, you wouldn't be surprised.. lol

  6. Pushcart Foamer and Ely (subwaymustang) showed up, and it's funny, we were about to go do this prank that involved something that was in the bag, we start going up the escalator from the ground floor to the 2nd floor and I'm about to get the thing we needed, then I realize I don't have the bag and I'm like OH SHIT and run down an up escalator then RUN to the food court, and of course I'm too late.

The fact that Ely was there made me die laughing! LOLOL

  7. DEAD was an understatement Q30 at night was so dead I've seen skeletons at a cemetery for 50 years that weren't as DEAD AS Q30's Overnight service. DAMN that bus was empty.

    ...............

Speaking of late night service, I took the Q85 at 1am last week, and it was packed O__o.

  8. I've been realizing a lot about how my transit hobby has affected my life..

I have met so many great people who have become an important part of my life and have had a lot of memories (good ones of course).

Many think that the transit hobby only involves getting pictures and riding equipment but honestly, there is more than that, there are opportunities for good relationships with others that have something in common with you. It's just really cool. Has anyone else ever felt that way?

  9. Alright.....IM DONE...im done....IM DONE...goshh ^i didnt know i make people leave  ....i just try to have fun and laugh with everyone but if im going overboard...then im done...

Don't criticize yourself.. Yeah you like Xcelsiors, that's fine, everyone has a preference towards a certain bus, but don't let it take over your whole life and be the only thing you think about. Have fun and do other stuff as well, transit should be a part of your life indeed (as it is all of ours) but cannot be the ONLY part of your life..

  10. I didn't say it wasn't needed. I said you don't have patience... I use Bus Time on Staten Island, so I know it is needed.

Patience.. oh please. I'm tired of riding buses that run like crap everyday, that's it. Bunching, showing up late, MIA runs. It's annoying.

KID was this necessary? CMON MAN!!!!!! !

Lol i'm not a kid, thank you. And what you said wasn't necessary. It's true though. You don't think your ideas through and organize them, we've been telling you that for the longest..

  11. Just my two cents:

Q64 extension down Jewel and 73rd to Springfield, and Q88 reroute from 73rd onto the Horace Harding until Springfield. IMO Q88 should also be given a LTD route because it runs along the highway and there aren't that many places to cross over from a bus stop on the opposite side of the highway anyways.

Q12 extension down to Little Neck Parkway and Jericho Turnpike (the old Q79). The Q36 extension is a step in the right direction, but it doesn't really improve connectivity because pretty much every route it intersects with also goes to Jamaica, and connecting to Flushing from the outer ends of the 46 and 43 can be really annoying.

A new orbital route (like the Q27, but limited-stop the entire time and longer) following the Q27, then turning onto 120th Av, Baisely Blvd and 150th St to Kennedy, because there aren't really any "crosstown" services in SE Queens and JFK's a major employment center.

Stops: All Q27LTD stops (except maybe QCC - I'm not sure if the extra patronage justifies going through that slow, out-of-the-way bus loop)

    197th St & 120th Av

    Farmers Blvd & 120th Av(Q3)

    Merrick Blvd & Baisely Blvd(Q84, Q85, Q5)

    Guy R Brewer Blvd & Baisely Blvd(Q111, Q113)

    Rockaway Blvd & 150th St(Q6, Q7)

    150th St & North/South Conduit Av

    JFK

Also, the Q58 and B54 and the Q24 and the B25 should be combined - I didn't realized how complicated a Brooklyn-Queens trip could be without Manhattan transfers until Sandy came.

Plus, BusTime should probably come to Queens, and at the very least signal priority should be rolled out through the bus network.

1, Keep as is. The Q30 runs on HHE by springfield for a reason...

    2. That would make the Q12 REALLY long..

    3. This is my area of expertise. Well the crosstown isn't needed. That area is pretty dead. The Q84 doesn't do that great on 120 Av, its mostly residential. As for the Baisley segment, most people take buses TO jamaica. This "crosstown" wouldn't preform very well. If one wants to go to JFK, the Q3 is there for a reason. Oh and this route would be super long if it was a segment of the Q27 which is already pretty long itself.

    4. Those stops are good if the route was to be made.

    5. Nope, nope, nope, those 4 routes are separated for a reason! Doing that would make 2 really long routes for no particular reason.

    6. BusTime should come to Queens ! and yes I like the idea of signal priority.. A lot of lights on certain routes don't connect together (one on one block will be green, next block will be red) as I've noticed

  12. not even close your beyond clueless. You will never see it from that view only from the whole network not BS segment planning boy. What is funny is you guessing wrong completely when trying to figure me out.

I don't want to figure you out... the fact that I can't read your mind doesn't make me dumb...

Just spit it out... why do I even bother with you...

I'd like the Q68 if there weren't two routes known as the Q88 and Q30 a few blocks away... However, there is a lack of direct service from Flushing along that corridor, but I don't think that Booth Memorial is a good route for such a line.

As for that 27A, I think you could combine that with the Q68 actually, not that I even think that corridor merits service...

I have a great idea! How about you two STOP talking and suggesting ideas for places that you barely go to or know much about? Saves headache and energy!

  13. Today was alright heading to Jamaica.... I missed the 5:58 (am) Q85 LTD.... So I caught one at 6:09, which was late (usually comes at 6:04)... The B/O I had, skipped all the stops along Bedell St (Rochdale Village), although those stops are LTD and Local stops, as well as ALL the stops on Merrick (even the Limited ones)... We still got to Jamaica behind schedule tho. (Got there at 6:38 instead of 6:31).... Now I have taken that run before (one of my two usuals, along with the 5:58 one) and that has never happened before... When I got to Jamaica, it turns out that the run behind us caught up to us (6:15), which means that that run was probably early or something and picked up pax at all the stops we skipped... All in all, it was pretty interesting...

Heading home, the Q85 LTD line (4pm) was of course the longest line in Jamaica Center... 2 RTSes came at the same time, and I just took the 2nd one. Both were pretty packed too... Usual

  14. Whats the rule with passengers asking to get on the bus without paying .. some driving press something on the farebox others just let them on

They do w/e they want... If they let the passenger on, they press F5 on the farebox... In all of my experiences with that situation, the B/O is nice enough to let them on the bus (although the non paying customers IMO shouldn't be allowed on the bus) and then just presses F5

Sorry another question .. When buses go to scrap is anything saved from the bus such as Tires, Rims, Mirrors, Seats Etc...

I think some parts are saved and put in remaining in service buses, not 100% sure....

  15. For me, I made heavy use of the photocopier machine from late in my freshman year and onwards. Mainly I used it for my history textbooks and anytime I had a heavy class workload. It not only made my weight lighter, but it was such a relief to not have so many damn books home at the same time.

I actually get a lot of handouts as well. Haven't had need for a photocopier yet in 3 years though, guess because textbooks aren't used so much now

  16. Thanks, I thought so.

Which makes up for the condition the buses are in.

I know way back there was problems with vandalism (and to my knowledge still exists), but are the buses good performance wise or are they shot?

SI's Orion 5s are good performance wise to me... They are dirty but they are not as bad as Queens buses (LGA buses in particular)

  17. Speaking about heavy bags, My back has never been the same after so many constant days of having to carry my heavy books with me....

In my school, they let us leave the heavy textbooks at home or in class...

US History and AP Psych (AP Psych is a college one) textbooks, we leave at home and do notes on the board in class (US History is so easy, so I don't copy)..

English we leave in class... My Trig textbook isn't very heavy.. Most of my bookbag is clothes lmao !

But I have back problems due to a car accident 3 years ago, so if I forget a textbook or have no room for a certain book, I get leeway on the assignment or w/e.

  18. You can look at it like that (simply regarding wearing a uniform vs having a predictable wardrobe whilst in public school), yes.....

However, there's long been the stigma that private school kids/kids that wear uniforms, are soft..... Which public school kids saw/depicted as easier targets....

just saw your post after I hit refresh....

Anyway, scary how we both brought up the same point w/o reading each other's post beforehand.....

But yeah, that's what I'm saying.... public school kids/teens nowadays don't care about picking on a kid that goes to private school b/c they go to private school (which is a good thing).... The negative is, there's more in-fighting (or w/e you wanna call it) b/w kids that go to the same public school..... private schools IMO is even worse with that....

Lol yeah.... With "in-fighting", in my school, there is a lot of drama, A LOT. And there are the occasional fights.. Most of the kids are just talk and wanna look cool. In catholic school, from experience, it is way harder to avoid trouble after having a fight. 9 times out of 10 in my school, the school will find out and suspension is always the result. Especially since my school is in Astoria, there is a bit of police presence as well...

From the public schools that my friends go to, I have never heard them mention a fight occurring there before, which proves your point even more..
