  1. What streets should it use instead? To me, it's the only direct route between Brooklyn and LGA.
  2. Even the Q44 can be unreliable, especially whenever it crosses the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge during rush hours in the peak direction. I can tell because I used to frequent the Q44 and it can be quite a slow ride between the Bronx and Jamaica.
  3. My proposal is slightly different--instead of a Q70 extension to LGA, I proposed a separate bus running nonstop between Williamsburg and LGA Airport. That way, the Q70 can still serve Woodside and Jackson Heights, while the B34 can serve Brooklyn. In this case, the Q33 and the B24 will remain intact. The route map is here: https://mapsengine.google.com/map/edit?mid=zh758mgJc1tw.kV0BaxFBNAyI
  4. B34: Limited-stop service between Williamsburg Bridge Plaza and LaGuardia Airport via Broadway, Rodney St (northbound), Marcy Av (southbound), Meeker Av, Brooklyn-Queens Expy, and Grand Central Pkwy. No stops are made between Kingsland/Meeker Avs and Parking Lot 1 in LaGuardia Airport. Bus will operate daily from 6AM to midnight every 15 minutes during rush hours and every 30 minutes all other times. Makes only the following stops: On Broadway: Williamsburg Bridge Plaza Marcy Av subway station On Rodney St (northbound) and Marcy Av (southbound): Metropolitan Av (near the Metropolitan Av and Lorimer St subway stations) On Meeker Av: Lorimer St Graham Av Kingsland Av Then all stops within LaGuardia Airport (including the Marine Air Terminal)
  5. Again, my other subway proposal is a subway under Stuyvesant Av and Utica Av connecting to the train at Montrose Av. Should it connect to the or should it be a line of its own?
  6. The B11 used to go to Canarsie back in the 1980s, but it was cut back to Brooklyn College since then.
  7. It runs to Canarsie from Bay Ridge, not Downtown Brooklyn. Also, this route is a local, whereas the B103 is a limited. The B103 therefore doesn't directly serve the in Canarsie.
  8. B79: Local service between Bay Ridge and Canarsie via Bay Ridge Av, 8 Av, 65 St, 20 Av, Av I, Coney Island Av, Av J, Bedford Av, Glenwood Rd, Albany Av, Av H, and Flatlands Av. Bus will operate between Shore Rd/Mackay Pl and the Rockaway Pkwy subway station from 6AM to midnight every 10-15 minutes during rush hours and every 30 minutes all other times. Some rush hour buses will terminate at the Flatbush Av subway station.
  9. Does it work running the and express in Manhattan at all times except late nights?
  10. This service model is like the IND Queens Blvd Line, where local trains terminate at Forest Hills to access the yard and express trains continue to Jamaica.
  11. What are GOs? What does flagging mean in subway operations?
  12. Again, my plan is to run the between Astoria and Whitehall St at all times except late nights. So there you go, the local stops will be served by both trains on weekends so the can run express at those times.
  13. Nevertheless, the will still have to cross to the express tracks at Prince St to access the Manhattan Bridge should it run local on weekends. In that case, I would suggest running the as an express in Manhattan at all times except late nights and the as a local to Whitehall St during those times, with rush hour trains extending to Bay Pkwy. Late nights the and would run as locals in Manhattan via Whitehall St and the Manhattan Bridge, respectively. The and would not run during late nights (late night trains will operate as a shuttle between 95 St and 36 St/4 Av).
  14. It wouldn't make sense because running the as an express on weekdays and as a local on weekends would be too inconsistent, and having the run local at all times would mean a more uniform service pattern for customers.
  15. I absolutely disagree with bringing the train back to an express in Manhattan. It should remain as is: a local in Queens and Manhattan via the Manhattan Bridge and express in Brooklyn along 4 Av bypassing DeKalb Av. Once the is rerouted to 2 Av, the should be reborn to be an express in Manhattan, running between Astoria and Whitehall St on weekdays and extending via the Montague St tunnel to Bay Pkwy during rush hours, making all local stops in Brooklyn. That way, you get more consistent and uniform service on the Broadway Line for various times of the day. My service plan is as follows: Broadway Local between Astoria and Coney Island (as it runs today) Broadway Express between 96 St/2 Av and Coney Island (local on 2 Av, express on Broadway and local in Brooklyn via Manhattan Bridge, skipping 49 St) Broadway Local between Forest Hills and 95 St/4 Av (as it runs today) Broadway Express between Astoria and Whitehall St, extending to Bay Pkwy/86 St via the Montague St tunnel and making all stops in Brooklyn during rush hours, and stopping at 49 St
  16. Trenton, NJ is the worst place to take a bus. I can tell because I used to live there for almost a year. The drivers in general are rude and sometimes take advantage of people in a bad way by leaving them stranded at the bus stop all night long. None of the buses there run overnight, so if the driver doesn't open the door for you and it's the last bus, tough luck. The only way to get around the area at night is by car. Nothing like NYC in general, where many buses do run overnight.
  17. That reminds me, is the Lex Av Line already becoming more overcrowded after the X90 was discontinued?
  18. How about rush hours in the peak direction only?
  19. Nowadays, Manhattan's far west side is being developed, and there have been calls for more transit opportunities there.
  20. The far west side of Manhattan is lacking in proximity to subway service, right?
  21. Every express bus from the outer boroughs goes to Manhattan, but other than the X25 and X90 buses that were killed in 2010, why doesn't Manhattan have its own express bus nowadays? Here's my proposal for an express bus within Manhattan: X70: Express weekday only service between Columbus Circle and Battery Park City Southbound: via Central Park West, 63 St, 9 Av, 23 St, West St, Chambers St, and North End Av Northbound: via North End Av, Chambers St, West St, 10 Av, 42 St, and 8 Av Bus will run from 7AM to 8PM every 30 minutes. No stops on West St in both directions.
  22. It would be cheaper to ride an express bus than taking Metro-North to Westchester...
  23. Would Mount Vernon be ideal for an express bus to Manhattan? (The BxM3 is currently one of only two express buses that serve Westchester, the other being the BxM4C)
  24. What if the 3rd Avenue El still existed today? Would it work if it was to be connected to the Lexington Avenue Line?
  25. Q78: Local weekday only service between Jamaica and Fresh Meadows via Hillside Av, Midland Pkwy, and 188 St. Bus will operate from 6AM to midnight between the 165th St Bus Terminal and 188 St/64 Av every 30 minutes.
