  1. It would be nicer if the photo really was 8523. If you look closely on the front you will see it says "8522". Other than that it is a beauty.
  2. Which company is this you are applying to? I saw the 180 and thought of NJ Transit, at 180 Boyden Avenue in Maplewood. If this is whom you are talking about, I do not believe they schedule any Lab or medical stuff until you have all permits. They do an interview a few weeks after you take the test, if you pass it. They then tell you to go and get all permits, and then they schedule medical and Lab portions. This is my understanding anyway.
  3. Thank you. I haven't gotten any paper work to fill out before the medical. I have a 1000 exam so I have planned to need the whole day- just in case. In your opinion, do a lot of people fail the medical or do they work with you in a sense to get you passed? I do not expect problems, but not sure what they emphasize in exam. I am so looking forward to this.
  4. Thank you. I am glad to hear Ironbound may be a possibility. I have a further question or two if you don't mind. First, how long does the medical take and do you know right afterwards if you pass? Second, regarding Ironbound availability, how likely is it to get the 113 or 114 and how about local vs. express on those routes? I know these answers may vary, but any additional gouge is appreciated. Thank you.
  5. I was wondering if anyone has a typical wait period from completion of medical exam to a class start date. Does it happen quickly or is there a lengthy wait? I have an event a few weeks into future which I absolutely cannot miss. However, I do not want to jeopardize my transit employment or delay my training for a lot longer. Also, is there any preparation necessary for medical exam for PTBO? What do they check? I am in good health but would like a heads-up if possible. I must say the process so far has been smooth sailing. There have been waiting periods between steps, but nothing to complain about. P.S. Any gouge on current garage availability or drafts to certain garages? Thank you.
  6. Hi. I recently called NJ Transit in Maplewood and they are looking for part-time bus operators. They mailed me an application and I filled it out and sent it back. Does anyone know how likely it is to get a response or is it a long waiting period? Also, what would be the next step if they are interested? I have always wanted to do this and with the current economic situation I really need additional income. I don't want to be too pushy but perseverance can be helpful when looking for a job. Does anyone know how likely it would be to work the commuter buses out of Ironbound Garage on the 113 or 114 routes? Thank you and I think I got all of my initial questions out of my system. Happy motoring!
  7. Hi, folks! I am happy to say I just joined your site and happier I can now post. I live in Union County, NJ and I am applying for NJ Transit part-time bus operator. I don't know much about the process but am learning a little every day. I look forward to posting and responding when able.
