  1. He also meant to say that it frequently gets into traffic. We all know that the Queens Center Mall area is devoid of traffic, especially on weekends . . . not.
  2. I'll address a few other points, including the IRT: 1) IRT Lexington Avenue Line As it is, three lines are enough to pack the tracks to capacity. Adding a fourth line would be a logistical nightmare. 2) IRT Broadway/Seventh Avenue Line The situation is not as desperate on this line as the Lexington Avenue Line, but the tracks are nearly packed to capacity. Adding a fourth line would be a logistical nightmare. 3) BMT Broadway Line Unless I'm reading the map incorrectly, this line is cut from four lines to two. This would lead to hopeless overcrowding on the two remaining lines. 4) BMT Jamaica Line/Nassau Street A lot of Queens customers on the line will complain about having to transfer in order to reach Manhattan.
  3. This is fairly OT, but I wonder if 207th is as tired of the 32's as ENY is with those rusty 42's. ENY also has some 32's, so they may be even more tired than 207th lol. It does mean something. It's an indictment of the R40 and R44, both of which were even less reliable than the R32. It's also an indictment of the (MTA)'s decision to get rid of the R38's. If not for those factors, it would be these newer trains running instead of the R32's.
  4. This map is heaven for a foamer, to be brutally honest. In mentioning the to Bay Ridge the to Coney Island, and a yellow from Coney Island to the Upper East Side, I haven't even touched the surface of how much foaming is on this map. Beyond all the foaming, these changes would cause epic confusion if this ever happened.
  5. Relegating the to a shuttle for the weekend is unlikely to happen without really crowded trains imo. The QBL trains are often standing room only on weekends (especially during shopping hours), and taking away the would make things even worse.
  6. This is a little off-topic, but has anyone else been hit hard with text messages in the last month? My father went over the limit with getting texts, and now he'll have to pay for it.
  7. It's the best of both worlds. You get the nostalgia of the 42's and the efficiency of the 160's.
  8. I'm starting to see articulated buses on the Q10 route. I'm sure those buses be a nightmare on those hills around Kew Gardens, especially on snowy and icy days.
  9. Why waste time? Lol the blasted paint will rust off easily, just like with all R42's.
  10. Lol it's not just the . There are plenty of people who feel indifferent at best about the R32 because it's old and not very reliable at this point. Trust me, there have been plenty of discussions on this forum pitting the nostalgia people against those who just want reliable trains.
  11. North West sounds like a street name, not a person's name.
  12. That was what they did when they built the . If I recall they have the space for a third track, and it was part of the IND Second System. Of course there has never been the demand for that, but at least they made the provision available when building it. I wish they did the same thing with the SAS.
  13. The doesn't run overnight and has 10-minute headways during rush hour. With those service statistics the will never be near the top of any Straphangers list, even if they bring in NTT's.
  14. What I love about an extension into Brooklyn is that it gives the provision of filling in some serious service holes east of Nostrand. It's not likely to happen in the near future due to budget constraints, but at least the provision would be there.
  15. New line: Main Street/White Plains Rd South line. The stops are: Jamaica Center (transfer to ) Parsons Blvd/Hillside Avenue (transfer to ) Parsons Blvd/Union Turnpike Main Street/Union Turnpike Jewel Avenue Hoarce Harding/Booth Memorial Main Street/Roosevelt Avenue (transfer to ) College Point-15th Avenue Bruckner Parkchester (transfer to ) Bronx Park East (transfer to ) Obviously this would be a 4-6 car line. I don't see ridership being high enough to justify 10 cars. This is not likely to happen in the near future, but that's why they call it a fantasy.
  16. terminates at 3rd Avenue and shuttle buses run between 3rd and 8th Avenue. Please expect delays in the long-term.
  17. So the only 42's left in service are on the J/Z?
  18. Next: There are signal problems at the 96th St station. At the same time there are signal problems at the 145th St station.
  19. What a bunch of foam, suggesting that the R44's have any possibility of coming back. I know vulgar language is frowned upon in these forums, but the 44's were c#$p from day one. Not even GOH was able to help these lemons they called the R44's.
  20. It's not that it can't help at all. It just can't help as much as it could. What incentive is there for Bronx riders to take a if it is slower and doesn't go into that neck of the woods?
  21. Of course the R46's would be retired after this project. Here is my train, called the R230: Division: IRT Company: Bombardier What trains they will replace: Some of the R62's (of course another contract will be needed circa 2025-2030 to finish replacing all of the R62's) Length: Same as R62's Trains: Singles (like the 62's, in case 230's end up on the ) Signage: Similar to NTT's Material: Stainless steal Features: There would be a better quality of PA system. For some reason the PA system seems to be WORSE on the NTT's than older trains. That's really annoying when there's a sudden change in service. In addition to this the NTT's seem to have glitches with the announcement system (something saying "This is Lexington Av-53rd Street" when I'm at Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Avenue, for example), so the goal of the 230's will be to iron out those glitches.
  22. Let's get this thread back on track . . . New scneario: The express tracks at the Broadway-Lafayette station are out of service due to a sick passenger. Please reroute without 60 TPH on the local track.
  23. Solution: The entire system shuts down for the first time since Hurricane Irene.
  24. There would be rush hour service, even if it's not actually rush hour. Therefore the would terminate at Flatbush while the would run to Coney Island.
