  2. You can feel the difference too on the NB on those curves between 21st and 36th. Train i rode today went through them at a higher but still safe speed vs APTM and we had the lineup

  4. Next board update on OMNY is April. Guess we'll find out then Also announced this week with the Metropolitan-Lorimer elevator openings are special OMNY subway transfer readers due to the configuration of the station. Someone can probably link a pic from MTA site, twitter, or flickr
  5. Just got an email a few minutes ago, Easypay will be permanently ending in the beginning of July. Reloads will be turned off in May. They will mail letters and include an OMNY card. It's not clear if the balance will automatically transfer or not.

  7. Was ATO turned back on along QBL? Brooklyn bound train I took tonight had noticeably quicker acceleration and higher braking rate, along with no rolling brake test leaving Forest Hills
  8. Maybe it has something to do with installing those platform barriers at 125th and 137th like at 191st, while having trains turn at 137th. This weekend only downtown are skipping 191 for "station improvements", the presidents weekend GO also says station improvements. And people have posted pics of the new barriers at 191 Just speculating
  9. Noticed while looking out the front of a Queens bound that there are some "T" signals (not signs) at the entrance of 34, 42, and 49 st stations. If I remember correctly, these signals are a white LED T below a green, and the T lights up if any of the mid station signals are red. Is this to encourage entering on station timers and were these installed anywhere else in the system?
  10. When ATO and or ATS are activated, will lineups still be given by RCC/OCC or will they eventually be "automated"?
  11. You can set the threshold and reload amounts to anything but they are subject to minimums. The minimum threshold is a balance below $10. The minimum reload amount is $20.
  12. They probably won't raise the fee back to $5 until some time after all stations have the machines. Should give time for more people who need the card to get it.
  13. All good Mike, I posted mine at almost the same time so just wanted to note that in case the mods saw 2 similar postd. As to the different card fee, maybe the MTA is selling cards at cost or at a loss to drive adoption for any remaining holdouts before 2024. The $5 also gives people incentive to hold on to the card until it expires, but that cost is a bit high even for those who can afford it. $2-$3 is reasonable, especially because occasional users can mainly use their own payment cards and are not forced to buy a card, like what DC has with their Smartrip cards. I cant imagine it costs more than that to produce an OMNY card. For comparison, some other cities that I've visited and their transit card costs. DC $2 for Smartrip, must use on the metro Toronto CA$6 for Presto, just introduced open payments a few months ago Montreal CA$6 for Opus but no fee tickets are available Vancouver CA$6 refudable deposit for Compass, open payment and single tickets both available at higher cash rates. London Oyster 5GBP, available for transit use after a year. Full open payment available Seoul W2500-4000 for a Tmoney card, cash reloads only. Single use tickets available with a refundable deposit
  14. Machines are functional as of today, and new cards bought from them are temporarily $1. The photo also shows an OMNY ticket of some sort. However, the press release says the cards are good for up to 5 years, but the OMNY cards bought from retailers earlier have later expiration dates.   17. QBL west substantial completion has been delayed until end of 2024 per the Oct 2023 capital program committee materials. Primarily due to software upgrades and change orders with both Siemens and Thales. Excerpt below: Siemens has asserted claims in the amount of $23,881,943 and for additional time associated with those claims. C&D has analyzed Siemens’ claims and, while many are subject to defenses, a number of the claims arise from Extra Work directed by MTA or delays attributable to MTA. For example, and among other issues, MTA made approximately forty changes to its CBTC Interoperability Interface Standard that required Siemens to perform additional changes to its software and CBTC database. In addition, MTA directed Siemens to provide spare parts beyond what was required in the Contract. ... Although Substantial Completion has not yet been achieved, most of the Contract Work has been performed and MTA has taken Beneficial Use of the CBTC system and the Automatic Train Supervision system (“ATS”), which are both in-service.

In an effort to improve customer experience, the Port Authority of NY & NJ (PANYNJ) is collaborating with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority to unite their separate payment systems, through OMNY, allowing customers to travel seamlessly to and from John F. Kennedy International Airport as well as through the New York public transportation system.
  19. OMNY on the Airtrain will be activated on Tuesday Oct 10th. It will only be a few gates in each direction, with all gates getting readers by 2024(!)
  20. The OMNY card reload function on the site has been updated/fixed. Minimum reload is still 5.80 but you can now do it in increments of 5 cents, instead of the previous 25 cents.
